Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom have been at each other’s throats since the lead up to the 2022 Midterm elections.
DeSantis and Newsom even squared off in a debate on Fox News during the GOP Presidential Primary.
And Ron DeSantis just took a trip to California for one reason that will drive Gavin Newsom up the wall.
Ron DeSantis and Gavin Newsom are on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Newsom is a far-Left Democrat who supports the most extreme position on every issue.
DeSantis is a conservative Republican who supports limited government and free markets.
As Governors of two of the largest states, Newsom and DeSantis are often pitted against each other in the media.
Since Newsom wants to be President, he tried to use DeSantis to help him gain national attention with Democrats.
Newsom dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads attacking DeSantis ahead of his re-election bid in 2022.
The back and forth led to a debate between DeSantis and Newsom on Fox News that was moderated by Sean Hannity.
But DeSantis is now on a mission to help Donald Trump defeat Kamala Harris.
“Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are signaling to donors that they are putting their rivalry behind them after a contentious and often personal primary fight,” the AP reported in May. “DeSantis convened his allies this week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to press them to raise money to support Trump, making the case over a seafood and steak dinner that they need to work together to prevent Democratic President Joe Biden from winning a second term,” the AP continued. “The governor and about 30 people then spent Thursday morning in a hotel conference room raising money for an outside group that supports the former president’s 2024 White House campaign.”
During the meeting, DeSantis set a goal of raising $10 million for Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign.
And if there is one thing Ron DeSantis has proven during his time as Governor, it’s that he is a man of his word and follows through on his promises.
DeSantis traveled to California on Thursday to raise money to help Donald Trump defeat Kamala Harris this fall.
The Governor is the guest speaker at an event put on by the California Republican Assembly.
Tickets start at $1,000 to attend a reception and speech and go up to $5,000 for a private dinner with DeSantis.
The event is listed as “fundraising for Trump.”
When DeSantis visited California last September, he ripped Democrats for turning the state into a raging dumpster fire.
“Just being in southern California over these last few days, my wife and I have run into four or five people that reported that they’ve been mugged in the last year in different parts of Southern California,” DeSantis said. “When people are telling me that when they go shopping, they take off their jewelry because they don’t want to get mugged, even in nice places in L.A., that’s a huge, huge problem.”
He also mentioned how he saw people “defecating on the sidewalk” and “using fentanyl” in the streets.
Newsom apparently took DeSantis’ advice in September.
Earlier this month, Newsom issued an executive order modeled on one DeSantis signed that requires the removal of homeless encampments from public property.
Only time will tell if DeSantis takes a shot at Newsom on this trip to the Golden State.
But Californians would benefit if Newsom would follow more of DeSantis’ policies.
