The Olympic games are supposed to be a unifying event where the world gathers in peaceful competition.
But this year’s opening ceremony to the Summer Olympics in Paris, France was an insult to Christians.
The opening ceremony is to be a showcase of the country’s culture to kick off the competition.
Paris’ opening ceremony mocked Christians with a drag queen rendition of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ.
It became a celebration of wokeness with drag queens, transgenders, and bizarre fashions.
Christians around the world were outraged that their faith was insulted while the world was watching.
Ron DeSantis reacts to woke Olympics
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics was a sign of “cultural decline.”
“The mockery of Christians during the Olympics opening ceremony is a symbol of cultural decline,” DeSantis wrote on X.
He said it was a part of a global struggle.
Elites in Western Europe have rejected the values that made their countries great,” DeSantis continued. “We are fighting that same battle here in the United States—are we going to be rooted in truth? Florida has made our choice.”
This is the same woke culture that DeSantis has fought so hard to keep out of Florida’s government schools.
DeSantis expanded upon his thoughts about the opening ceremony at a press conference.
He called it a sad state of affairs.
“I look at this, this Olympics opening ceremony, and, you know, honestly, like, I wasn’t, like, necessarily — I don’t get offended,” DeSantis stated.
“People say things that I disagree with all the time, but I was just sad seeing this,” DeSantis continued. “It’s like, you know, that was really a symbol of the decline of Western civilization.”
DeSantis predicted that no one with the Olympic organizing committee would dare mock Islam during the event.
“I don’t think, on the closing ceremony, they’re going to do anything where they mock Islam,” DeSantis remarked. “I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’d be willing to bet a lot of money that doesn’t happen.”
Christianity and the classical values that built western civilization are eroding in Europe.
“And, so, when they’re doing that, you know, and they’re mocking the Last Supper like that, it just shows that so much of, particularly Western Europe, you know, they’ve really walked away from the values that once made those countries great,” DeSantis added.
DeSantis said that the United States is in the middle of the same cultural struggle.
And Florida has become a refuge for the truth.
“Are we going to be rooted in things that have real, serious meaning?” DeSantis asked. “And, you know, of all the things that you can say is, we’ve put our stake in the ground here in Florida very strong, and people have responded by us being the top destination for people to want to move to.”
