The Secret Service is under the microscope for its failure to protect Donald Trump.
But the embattled agency is not giving the public the full story about what happened.
And Florida lawmakers revealed this scary reality about the Secret Service.
Florida House Republicans start an independent investigation into Trump shooting
The Secret Service is facing multiple investigations into its failures that led to former President Donald Trump being shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
But there are questions about the official investigations into the assassination attempt against Trump.
That is why Representative Cory Mills (R-FL), a former sniper with the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, decided to launch his own independent investigation.
Homeland Security’s Inspector General, the FBI, and the Secret Service all have probes into the Trump shooting.
The House and Senate each have task forces that are also looking into the shooting.
Mills and a group of his House Republican colleagues do not have faith in the politicized FBI or the Secret Service to conduct an impartial investigation.
Representative Eli Crane (R-AZ), a member of Mill’s parallel investigation, expressed doubt in the FBI’s leadership.
“I have faith in the rank and file members of the FBI doing an investigation,” Crane told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “I have zero faith in the head shed in the leadership of the FBI to actually release the information to the American people.”
Only investigation can be trusted by the federal government
Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said that President Joe Biden is trying to fire the one honest man investigating the Trump assassination attempt.
“So, there’s four investigations going on right now,” Biggs said. “You got two in the Secret Service, one in the FBI, and you have one from the Inspector General. That’s the only one that I trust. I would trust the Inspector General, which is Inspector General Cuffari. And oddly enough, the establishment of this administration is trying to have him fired.”
Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari has been a thorn in the side of the Biden-Harris administration for exposing their failures during the border crisis.
Mill’s investigation held a panel discussion at the Heritage Foundation with former Secret Service agent turned-conservative commentator Dan Bongino.
Bongino pointed out that glaring security problems were ignored at the Butler rally site.
“How did you not have a roofline 130 yards away secured when you are taught day one in Secret Service training that the effective range of a quality sniper is 1,000 yards?” Bongino asked.
Dozens of preventable mistakes allowed the gunman to get into position to get a clear line of sight of Trump.
I’m sorry,” Bongino continued. “Layered incompetence like that is absolutely intent.”
Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said FBI Director Christopher Wray “doesn’t inspire confidence.”
“Wray testified that he couldn’t see the decline of Joe Biden before his eyes,” Gaetz said. “It doesn’t inspire confidence in his perceptive skills.”
