Tim Tebow made one confession about his football career that no one saw coming

Sep 12, 2024

Tim Tebow was one of the most successful college quarterbacks of all time.

But the former Heisman Trophy winner has always been defined by more than his NFL career.

And Tim Tebow made one confession about his football career that no one saw coming.

Tim Tebow’s decorated football career is only part of his story

Former University of Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow was one the biggest stars of the 21st century in college football.

He rotated in behind starting quarterback Chris Leak during his freshman season and helped the team win a BCS National Championship in 2007 over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Tebow became the first-ever sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy when he threw for 32 touchdowns and had 23 rushing.

He added another National Championship as a junior and was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2010 by the Denver Broncos after his senior year.

Tebow struggled to transition from a spread option offensive scheme in college to the NFL.

The highlight of his NFL career was when “Tebowmania” took off as he led the Broncos to win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 2012 Wild Card Round game with a walk-off 80-yard touchdown to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in overtime.

He lost his starting spot when the Broncos traded for quarterback Peyton Manning that spring.

Tebow spent one more full season in the NFL as a backup quarterback with the Jets.

Tim Tebow reveals what is more important than winning the Super Bowl

The Heisman Trophy winner spoke at the Kansans for Life’s annual Valentine’s Day dinner in 2020 where he said that saving the lives of babies was more important to him than winning the Super Bowl.

“It really does mean a lot more than winning the Super Bowl,” Tebow said. “One day, when you look back and people are talking about you and they say, ‘Oh my gosh what are you going to be known for? Are you going to say Super Bowl, or we saved a lot of babies?’”

Tebow stressed the urgency in needing to save the lives of the unborn.

“It’s a rescue mission,” Tebow stated. “You know why we call it a rescue mission? Because when we say that, it puts a timeline on it.”

“When’s the last time you heard a rescue mission taking place in a month or a few years,” Tebow continued. “No, a rescue mission means now. It gives you a sense of urgency. It says we have to go not because it’s our time but because it’s their time … I have to live a sense of urgency because while I might have time, they don’t.”

Tebow is a devout Christian who has always put his faith at the center of his life.

He recalled the tough decision that his mom faced during her pregnancy with him while she was working as a missionary in the Philippines.

“You see, my mom 32 years ago had doctors tell her she needed to abort me because if she didn’t, it was going to cost her life,” Tebow recalled. “And they didn’t even believe that I was a baby. They thought I was a tumor.”

Tebow said that when he was born his placenta wasn’t attached.

“So, the doctor looked at my mom after 37 years of being a doctor and said, ‘This is the biggest miracle I’ve ever seen because I’m not sure how he’s alive.’ … I’m so grateful that my mom trusted God with my life and her life,” Tebow said.
