Tom Brady revealed one scary challenge he is facing after switching careers

Oct 1, 2024

Tom Brady was one of the most dominant players in the history of the NFL.

But he is finding out the next phase of his life is harder than he expected.

And Tom Brady revealed one scary challenge he is facing after switching careers.

Tom Brady leaves the playing field for the broadcast booth

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady made the surprising decision to take up broadcasting after he retired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He reportedly signed a 10-year $375 million contract to become an analyst for Fox Sports with play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt on the lead broadcast team for the network’s NFL coverage.

Brady had plenty of success on the football field but that does not mean it will translate to the broadcast booth.

His debut broadcasting the game between the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys drew some criticism for his energy and delivery.

Broadcasting is a new challenge for Brady, but he was one of the ultimate competitors during his time in the NFL.

Brady talks about his transition to the broadcast booth

The former New England Patriots great told Fox News Digital that he is “learning on the fly” as he works alongside Burkhardt in the broadcast booth.

“Obviously, it’s improve each week and improve each year,” Brady said. “There’s definitely unique challenges to really a new career role, and I’m learning it on the fly. There’s no hiding. It’s not like there’s really a practice field.”

Practicing for broadcasting is much harder to simulate than practicing for a game during his playing days.

“The only way to do it, you can’t just go into the studio and start repping a practice game,” Brady explained. “I did that, I did a lot. But it’s a lot different when you’re out there on the 50-yard line and real things are happening in real time.”

Brady admitted that he still has a lot to learn about broadcasting and is leaning on Burkhardt for advice.

“You just got to give yourself a little grace and also understand there’s a lot of urgency to try to get it right,” Brady stated. “It’s never going to be perfect, but it’s just a great challenge, and I really enjoy being involved in the game and watching a lot of these young athletes go out there and play their hearts out and try to make a career for themselves.”

The former quarterback’s drive and determination made him a success on the field and he is bringing that same effort to his new career.

“The coaches, I know what it means to these communities when their teams do well,” Brady said. “So, it’s just fun to be a part of it.”

He received praise for his work during the week four game between the Philadelphia Eagles and his old team the Buccaneers.

The fans in Tampa welcome him back after he led the team to its second Super Bowl in franchise history in Super Bowl LV.

Brady was able to work in some interesting stories from his playing days including revealing he almost joined the Chicago Bears as a free agent before the 2020 season.

The former Pro Bowl quarterback is already making strides in the broadcast booth.
