Barack Obama is getting off the sidelines to try and rescue Kamala Harris.
The former President has lost the touch he once had.
And Barack Obama was smacked down by a Florida Republican for this awful lie.
Barack Obama tries to take credit for the Trump economy
It is all hands on deck for Democrats with Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign backsliding in the closing weeks of the election.
Former President Barack Obama traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a rally where he took a swing at former President Donald Trump.
The booming economy that Trump presided over is one of his biggest selling points with voters this year.
Obama tried to undercut him by falsely claiming that Trump was riding off his economic success.
“The reason some people think, ‘I remember that economy when he first came in being pretty good’ – yeah, it was pretty good because it was my economy!” Obama said. “We had had 75 straight months of job growth that I handed over to him! It wasn’t something he did!”
Obama blamed former President George W. Bush for the sluggish economy during his entire Presidency.
“I had spent eight years cleaning up the mess that the Republicans had left me the last time,” Obama continued. “So just in case everyone has a hazy memory, he didn’t do nothing! Except those big tax cuts.”
Obama gets a reality check about the Trump economy
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) blasted Obama for trying to claim that he handed Trump a booming economy during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.
“I was working in finance during Barack Obama’s administration,” Donalds said. “Let me tell you, the economy under his last — especially the last five years was growing at about 1 to 1.5 percent per year.”
The GDP growth during Obama’s last full year in office was 1.6%.
Donalds pointed out that Obama tried to downplay his failures by telling the public that they should get used to a bad economy.
“I think, at the time, President Obama was saying that this era of large economic growth is something of the past. We’re going to have a more consistent economy,” Donalds explained. “In his words, a consistent economy meant one that barely grew.”
Obama bashed the Trump tax cuts but Donalds noted that was part of the former President’s strategy that spurred economic growth.
“So, when Donald Trump came in, he brought his tax cut policy in, which cut taxes across the board for everybody in our country. Couple the fact that he did cut massive regulations from the Obama administration, and what did we see?” Donalds stated.
Slashing taxes and regulation set in motion the Trump economic boom.
“Economic growth in the United States went from 1-1.5 percent under Barack Obama to 3-3.5 percent under Donald Trump,” Donalds continued. “Wages adjusted for inflation, like I said, because it’s the truth, increased for every subgroup of Americans in our country.”
“The wealth gap was closing. We were actually booming economically far more than we did under Barack Obama,” Donalds said. “So that’s a cool statement he made on the stump, but it’s not true.”
