Dwayne The Rock Johnson got one message about running for President he did not expect

Nov 27, 2024

Dwayne Johnson has long been rumored to be a potential Presidential candidate.

He could follow the path set by Donald Trump as a political outsider.

And Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got one message about running for President that he did not expect.

Former WWE star Kane gives The Rock a warning about politics

Professional wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most popular and likable stars in Hollywood.

The success of President-elect Donald Trump has made it conceivable that a political outsider could be a viable Presidential candidate.

Knox County, Tennessee Mayor Glenn Jacobs (R) wrestled against The Rock in the WWE under the ring name Kane.

Jacobs is a supporter of former Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) and the liberty movement before he was first elected Mayor in 2018.

The former WWE star had some surprising advice for Johnson about going into politics during an appearance on the Going Ringside podcast.

He said that he would tell Johnson not to step into the political arena.

“If I’m him, I wouldn’t. Politics is incredibly contentious and toxic right now,” Jacobs said. “Everybody likes Dwyane, no matter where you are on the political spectrum, because he’s a great entertainer, and he’s a good guy.

The moment you take sides in politics 50% of your fans won’t like you according to Jacobs.

“Got to remember that no matter what you say in politics, 50% of the people are just going to knee-jerk disagree with you, and you’re going to really tick some folks off,” Jacobs explained. “I’ve had to deal with that, obviously. If I were him, I would advise him not to do that, personally.”

Jacobs said that fans’ perception of Johnson would change the moment he entered politics.

“What’s going to happen is that you’re going to immediately alienate almost half your fan base, which can be an uncomfortable place to be,” Jacobs said.

Dwayne Johnson discovered that politics are toxic the hard way

Johnson endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 Election and that was a decision that he came to regret.

The actor told Fox & Friends in April that he thought his endorsement helped fuel the political division in the country.

“Am I going to do that again this year? That answer’s no. I’m not going to do that,” Johnson said at the time. “Because what I realized that what that caused back then was something that tears me up in my guts back then and now, which is division. And that got me.”

“The takeaway after that, months and months and months, I started to realize, like, ‘Oh man, that caused an incredible amount of division in our country.’ So I realize now going into this election, I’m not going to do that,” Johnson continued. “I wouldn’t do that because my goal is to bring our country together. I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there’s going to be no endorsement.”

Running for office and becoming a politician these days requires someone ready for the knockdown, drag-out brawl in the political ring.
