The holidays are a wonderful time to gather together and party!
And on Thanksgiving night, one elderly grandfather was having a good ol’ time blasting his favorite tunes.
But as he rocked out in pure bliss no one ever imagined what would happen next.
An irate neighbor went wild
Apartment living can be a wonderful thing.
There are maintenance guys who fix everything that breaks, and you do not have to do any yard work or shovel snow.
But then there are the downsides, like paper-thin walls and annoying neighbors.
On Thanksgiving, 72-year-old Hureleyon McLean was gathered with his family in his own apartment happily playing music and celebrating the joy of life.
But apparently, his downstairs neighbor did not like the volume of his music.
The irate neighbor rang the doorbell to “leave a message,” WSVN reported.
And then things went south.
McLean went downstairs to talk to his neighbor and then all of a sudden his wife, Rose McLean, reported she heard a gunshot.
Rose rushed downstairs to find out what happened and to her horror, she saw the unthinkable.
“I heard it, and I just flew to the door. When I look out, my husband was laying face down in the blood.”
Horrifying!
All because the music was too loud.
But Rose had no idea her own life was about to be threatened.
Fearing for her life
After seeing her beloved husband dead in a puddle of blood, Rose looked on in horror at the shooter.
She was frantic asking him why he shot her husband, and his response was shocking.
And apparently, the shooter was not finished just yet.
“He said to shut my mouth, or he would shoot me, too,” Rose told WSVN.
What a lunatic.
During the investigation, she told officers her husband was unarmed.
What should have been a day to give thanks turned into a nightmare for the McLean family.
Instead of eating turkey inside as a family, they were in the cold dark night surrounded by police cars.
The family stood in a prayer circle, trying to wrap their head around what just happened.
A needless tragedy
Neighbors often have disagreements.
But most level-headed people work things out and learn to get along.
Unfortunately, this was not the case in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida.
One guy’s anger led him to murder another human being.
Over music.
A family is forever destroyed, simply because a ranging lunatic could not control his temper.
Mclean’s Pastor spoke out on the senseless act of violence.
“It’s crazy how mankind has gotten to a place where we don’t honor life like we should honor,” Pastor Tracy McCloud told WVN.
Pastor McLoud continued “Who would have thought something tragic like this would happen?”
McLean was a proud grandfather who left behind a grieving widow, two grown sons, and his grandchildren.
Instead of a night to give thanks, this family was faced with their worst fear.
Neighbor disputes ending in violence and even murder are all the rage these days.
People need to learn to take a breather or go to anger management classes before it’s too late.
