Pam Bondi’s nomination as Attorney General has Florida Republicans moving to reverse her favorite gun control scheme

Dec 17, 2024

Pressure from the Swamp forced Trump’s first choice for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, to withdraw his nomination.

Trump then nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the Justice Department in his administration.

And now Pam Bondi’s nomination as Attorney General has Florida Republicans moving to reverse her favorite gun control scheme.

Donald Trump is working hard to avoid the same mistakes he made after he defeated Hillary Clinton to win the Presidency in 2016.

Trump did not know what to expect the first time he entered the White House, and he ended up selecting staff who would later stab him in the back and help the Deep State.

However, this time Trump is surrounding himself with loyal allies like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert Kennedy who he can count on to take a sledgehammer to Swamp corruption.

But there are a few “red flags” for some Trump nominees, such as Pam Bondi for Attorney General.

While Bondi is solid on most issues, she has a history of selling out to the gun control lobby.

She defended the state’s gun control laws that were enacted after the tragic Parkland shooting in 2018.

Bondi supported the law that raised the age to purchase a firearm to 21 and also supported “red flag” laws.

Red flag laws allow judges to order government agents to kick down doors and seize firearms from law-abiding American citizens without due process of law.

But Florida Republicans are looking to repeal the state’s red flag law and the law that raised the minimum age to buy a rifle to 21.

“Republican state lawmakers in Florida have filed two bills that would roll back gun control measures passed in the wake of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland,” the AP reported.

Republican Representative Joe Rudman is leading the charge to repeal the red flag law and Senator Randy Fine is pushing to change the law back to 18 years of age for purchases.

“I look forward to our state once again earning the title of the Gunshine State, where citizens are no longer asked to trade God-given freedoms for a politician’s empty promise of security,” Rudman said.

Rudman and Fine are running for seats in the U.S. House after Trump nominated two members from Florida for his administration and triggered a special election.

Senate President Ben Albritton already has weak knees and is waffling on reversing gun control.

“I’ve supported law enforcement my entire life,” he said. “And I stand with them today in opposition” [to open carry].

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is on record in opposition to red flag laws.

He previously said that “it’s not something I supported because I was concerned about the due process rights of individuals.”

Only time will tell if Florida Republicans move forward and pass a repeal of the gun control laws Pam Bondi championed.

But DeSantis will certainly sign the legislation if it reaches his desk.
