Drug dealers often meet their customers in public places to make a sale.
They do this to try and blend in with everyone else and avoid drawing unnecessary attention to themselves.
But customers were shocked when they saw a police officer on horseback chasing a Florida man through a McDonald’s drive-through.
On Tuesday, Jacksonville police noticed 25-year-old Jordan Wilson allegedly handing off illegal drugs to another person in a McDonald’s parking lot.
“Drivers waiting at a McDonald’s drive-thru got a dinner and a show when a police officer on horseback dramatically chased a drug suspect through the line,” the Miami Herald reported.
Once Wilson noticed the police, he fled into oncoming traffic on foot.
“Get that bad man, Nash!” Cassie Haire said to her horse on the body cam footage.
The officer ordered the suspect to stop fleeing or he could be “run over” by traffic.
“When 25-year-old Jordan Wilson tried to hoof it after handing off illegal drugs, he didn’t count on your #JSO Mounted Unit being hot on his tail,” the police report read. “Police Service Horse Nash, with Officer Cassie Haire in the saddle, galloped into action, proving that criminals can run, but they can’t hide from our horsepower!”
However, the suspect ignored the police and continued sprinting down the street and through parking lots as three officers on horses chased him.
“Bro, you’re not going to be able to outrun us on the horse,” Haire said. “You better stop.”
The suspect ran across medians, between cars, and through a McDonald’s drive-through.
Wilson eventually stopped running from the officers after he led them on a quarter-mile chase.
“The suspect realized that in about two minutes, at which point he sat down to catch his breath, video shows,” the Miami Herald reported. “He surrendered to Officer Zackary Maryland, who was also on horseback.”
Jacksonville Police added humor to their police report on social media.
“While Nash is the star of the video, we want to give a big shoutout to fellow crime-fighting steeds Jaxx, Judge, and Duke for making sure justice was the mane priority,” the police wrote in a statement. “Our Mounted Unit doesn’t just horse around when it comes to crime.”
Wilson was arrested and charged with resisting an officer without violence.
This was not his first run-in with the law.
He was charged for selling MDMA within 1000 feet of a state, county, or municipal park last year.
In 2023, he was arrested twice for possession of cocaine and trespassing on private property.
And in 2022, he was arrested once for battery without injury.
Florida residents responded to his latest arrest with humor.
“Imagine explaining to your cellmates that you got caught because a horse outran you,” one person wrote on the sheriff’s office Facebook page.
Another added that “it’s like the wild west.”
“It’s 2025 and he got caught like 1825,” another user quipped.
