Disney scales back its wokeness after Donald Trump’s victory
The Walt Disney Company became the vanguard for injecting woke content into its entertainment.
But the company’s left-wing activism was not limited to its TV shows and movies.
Disney picked a fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his parental rights in education law that prohibited students in grades K-3 from being taught radical gender ideologies and sexual orientation.
DeSantis stripped the company of its special governing district that controlled the governance of its Orlando theme parks.
That stinging defeat did not cause Disney to change course on its woke content.
Disney watched TV shows flop, and movies turn into box office busts because the company put a political agenda ahead of entertainment.
President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 Election was a signal that the majority of the public had become fed up with wokeness.
Major corporations began rolling back their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies after Trump’s win.
Disney announced that it was scaling back its DEI initiatives to bring them in line with “business goals and company values.”
It wasn’t a total retreat from DEI for Disney, but it marked a dramatic change from a company that was caught on video admitting it was “injecting queerness” into kids programming.
Two major DEI initiatives at Disney were scrapped including the controversial “Reimagine Tomorrow” according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
A leaked video of the 2022 Reimagine Tomorrow summit showed Disney producer Latoya Raveneau discussing how the company’s leadership supported her “not-at-all secret gay agenda.”
National Center for Public Policy Research director Stefan Padfield told Fox News that dropping the “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative was a sign that change was afoot at Disney.
“Disney dropping [Reimagine Tomorrow] from their DEI section could mean they’re walking back their DEI investments, or it could signal they’re hiding them,” Padfield explained. “Either they recognize that more litigation is coming, or it could be part of a vibe shift.”
The Trump administration’s ban on DEI in the government has spurred companies to dump it in the private sector.
Disney employees are not happy with the company’s changes
Disney CEO Bob Iger is facing backlash from his employees for attempting to appear less woke.
A group of Disney employees vented about the changes at the company to the Hollywood trade publication, Deadline.
“What’s next? Where do we go from here? What do we stand for now, keeping MAGA happy?” a Disney employee wondered.
Woke Disney employees attributed the company’s change in direction to Trump’s victory.
“This is not what I expected from Bob — I thought he had our back,” another Disney employee said.
Donald Trump’s victory did not just shake the Swamp in Washington, D.C.
It was a sign of a broader culture shift against wokeness after the Left tried to shove it down everyone’s throats after George Floyd’s death in 2020.
