People say you can find anything you want on Craigslist.
And they mean anything.
But as a Craigslist crackhead was searching for his next high, he never expected this surprise.
Truly high out of his mind
Addiction can make people do crazy things.
But while some go on drunken spending sprees or drive high and destroy personal property, others are so desperate for their next fix that they will do anything to get it.
While some resort to borrowing money from friends and family members, there are those that hit the streets begging for their next hit.
Or in one Florida man’s case, the internet.
Welcome to Florida
When people move to a new state, most search for a community and look to get connected to their new town.
But Anthony Mata decided he would take a different approach.
Looking for new friends (and drugs), Mata went to Craigslist and simply posted “New to the area, looking for ice or crack,” Fox News reported.
Wow!
Talk about a straight shooter.
Most drug users have a bit of skill to avoid getting caught and use code words or even vague phrases like “looking to party.”
But not Mata.
He got right to the point stating he was new and wanted to get high.
In his mind (whatever is left of it), perhaps he thought drug dealers would actually respond to such a bold request, risking getting caught themselves.
So, when Mata got a response from a “drug dealer” he was thrilled!
Thinking he was slick, Mata started to negotiate an “eight ball” with the dealer.
This was it!
He negotiated the price to $80 and was prepared to meet his new hero.
But when he drove to the pickup spot he received a nasty surprise.
As it turns out, the “drug dealer” was an undercover police officer.
Ouch.
So instead of getting his fix, he was charged with the purchase of methamphetamine and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, Fox News reported.
Not exactly the warm welcome to the Sunshine State Mata had hoped.
Florida does not mess around
Mata’s story is yet another example of a man who thought he was above the law.
It takes a sheer lunatic to post for drugs on Craigslist and expect to not get caught.
Especially in Florida.
DeSantis takes no prisoners in how he runs Florida.
He has a zero-tolerance policy for criminals and crooks and refuses to let the streets of Florida turn into the hellhole that places like California have become.
And law enforcement officials in Florida are committed to keeping Florida a safe place to live without druggies and crackheads running the streets.
Mata may have hoped to find crack on Craigslist, but now that he’s busted, hopefully he will get the real help he needs in a recovery program.
