A drunk Florida man called and asked the police for one favor that ended with a trip to the local jail

Alcohol is known to lower a person’s inhibition level.

This can cause people to do things they normally would not do if sober.

And a drunk Florida man called and asked the police for one favor that ended with a trip to the local jail.

Virtually everyone who drinks alcohol has done something while intoxicated that they regretted doing after they sobered up.

Research shows this is due to how alcohol affects the parts of the brain involved with behavioral regulation.

One study released by Biological Psychiatry found that alcohol decreases brain responses in prefrontal areas, which is the “part of the brain that helps us determine the consequences of our actions and regulate behavior.”

This makes people under the influence of alcohol willing to engage in more risky behaviors, such as driving, gambling, or aggression.

But the most-common alcohol-induced regrettable action is drunk dialing or drunk texting.

“Studies have shown that significant percentages of people who send electronic forms of communication while drunk regret these decisions later,” American Addiction Centers reported. “These behaviors can have consequences for people’s social lives and sexual relationships.”

A Florida man recently made one drunk phone call that caught police officers by surprise.

Deputies at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a drunk man at 1am who requested a ride from the officers.

“The caller (a 39-year old man from Winter Haven) reported that his fiancé dropped him off in the middle of nowhere, he was drunk, had nowhere to go, and asked if a deputy could pick him up,” the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Dispatchers were eventually able to decide the man’s location and went to help him.

“It wasn’t too difficult—he said he wasn’t wearing a shirt, and he was the only shirtless man out there at one o’clock in the morning,” the police reported. “The man identified himself and told deputies that he drank a few beers and got into an argument with his fiancé.”

However, the officers found an issue once they ran a check on the drunk man.

Apparently, he is on probation for drinking and is not supposed to be anywhere near alcohol.

“The man is on felony probation for DUI Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and one of the stipulations of his probation is that he is not to drink any alcohol,” the police reported.

The deputies still gave the man a ride, but it was not where he wanted to go.

They took him to jail.

“To make a short story even shorter, deputies did find a place for the man to go—the Polk Pokey…charged with violating his probation,” the police reported.
