Many Americans have a fear or phobia of some kind, including a fear of bees.
But being attacked by killer bees unlocks a whole new level of fear.
And when one Florida man struck a nest of killer bees what happened next was absolutely horrifying.
When “trimming trees” went horribly wrong
It was just another day of work for Florida resident Jon Christian.
At least it started off that way.
Christian was used to trimming trees and has even traveled all over Florida to complete various jobs with no problem.
But this time, he struck more than a branch.
As Christian was trimming the trees he hit a bee’s hive, and things took a dark turn.
The swarming killer bees were angry to have been disturbed and they started to attack Christian causing him to fall.
But this was not just any fall.
Christian fell an astounding 30 feet off a crane as the killer bees continued to sting him over and over again, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
Killer bees sting a man 120 times
To Christian’s horror, the killer bees began to swarm him, stinging him more than 120 times.
Ouch!
How painful!
To add to the excruciating pain, Christian is allergic to bees.
Speaking on the incident, Christian said “To me, it felt like somebody dipped my head in gasoline and set it on fire. The pain was just excruciating,” Fox 35 Orlando reported.
One cannot even imagine the fear and terror he experienced as killer bees continued to sting his body over and over again.
Thankfully, his crew was there to help save his life as they picked up Christian, covered with welts and stingers and quickly rushed him to the hospital.
When the doctors saw Christian they were stunned.
They could not believe he was alive.
Not only did Christian fall 30 ft off a crane and survive being stung by over 120 killer bees (while being allergic to bees) but the swelling was down, and he did not even break a bone.
A true miracle.
“The doctor said that either I have superhuman strength or I’m the luckiest person in the world,” Christian said.
If he was working alone, this story could have had a dark ending.
Calling in “The Bee Man”
After things settled down, Grant Roberts also known as “The Bee Man” was called in to take down the nest.
When Fox 35 asked Roberts if Christian could have died from the attack, Roberts did not miss a beat.
Roberts replied “They absolutely could have killed him. Allergic or not, when you get stung that many times over your body, you’re not getting away from it,” Fox 35 reported.
Thankfully Christian got away and is recovering safely at home.
As for those who have a “fear of bees,” reading about Christian’s attack of the killer bees just unlocked a whole new level of terror!
