A Florida meteorologist just picked one fight with Ron DeSantis that he will live to regret

Several left-wing reporters found out the hard way over the past few years that picking a fight with Ron DeSantis is never a good idea.

But some members of the corporate-controlled media will never learn.

And a Florida meteorologist just picked one fight with Ron DeSantis that he will live to regret.

During his Presidential campaign, Ron DeSantis promised to keep Joe Biden’s radical “climate change” agenda out of Florida.

“I’m ripping it up and throwing it in the trash can where it belongs,” DeSantis promised.

And the Governor meant it.

DeSantis recently signed three bills into law that protect Florida from Joe Biden’s green agenda.

The bills removed language requiring state agencies to consider “climate change” when creating energy policy, banned offshore wind turbines and offshore wind facilities within a mile of the coastline, and paved the way for easier construction of natural gas pipelines by removing unnecessary regulations.

Democrats and left-wing activists viciously attacked DeSantis for signing the common-sense bills into law and predicted more doom and gloom due to “climate change” in Florida.

But DeSantis drew fire from an unexpected source.

NBC 6 News meteorologist Steve MacLaughlin ripped DeSantis in a video he posted to X of him discussing the legislation the Governor signed into law.

“Don’t say Climate Change!” he wrote above the video posted on X. “As Florida is on fire, underwater and unaffordable, our state government is rolling back climate change legislation and language.”

The video shows him talking about the bills DeSantis signed into law last week that protects Florida from Joe Biden’s green agenda.

“On Thursday, we reported on NBC 6 News that the government of Florida was beginning to roll back really important climate change legislation and really important climate change language in spite of the fact that the state of Florida, over the last couple of years, has seen record heat, record flooding, record raining, record insurance rates and the corals are dying all around the state,” MacLaughlin said. “The world is looking to Florida to lead in climate change, and our government is saying that climate change is no longer the priority it once was.”

But he was not done.

He then brought up the November elections and urged people to research which candidates “believe in climate change” before they vote.

“Please keep in mind, the most powerful climate change solution is the one you already have in the palm of your hands: the right to vote,” he said. “And we will never tell you who to vote for, but we will tell you this: We implore you to do your research and know that there are candidates that believe in climate change and that there are solutions, and there are candidates that don’t.”

DeSantis Communications Director Bryan Griffin dropped the hammer on MacLaughlin in a pair of posts on X.

“The truth is, no one has done more for Florida’s environment than @GovRonDeSantis,” Griffin wrote. “The Climate Change™ firm just can’t stand being cut out, even at the cost of reliable, clean domestic energy. Florida stands up for sanity.”

Griffin included screenshots that show all the work DeSantis has done to protect the environment in Florida.

Griffin followed that up with a post where he “fixed” the headline by marking out words and adding in his own.

“Meteorologist rebukes DeSantis for scrubbing climate change from state law: ‘Florida is on Fire,’” the original headline read.

Griffin edited the original and posted his own version.

“Media activist rebukes DeSantis for stopping climate change activism from getting state funding: ‘We need Florida to be on ‘fire,’” Griffin’s edited headline read.
