Donald Trump is filling out the final spots in his new administration.
He has gotten some bad advice from his advisors on one pick.
And a Florida sheriff had his nomination to the Trump administration killed for this awful reason.
Florida sheriff nominated to DEA head withdraws after conservative pressure
President-elect Donald Trump nominated Hillsborough County, Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister to serve as the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
“For over 32 years, Sheriff Chad Chronister has served the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE,” Trump wrote.
Chronister’s nomination immediately set off alarm bells with conservatives.
The Sheriff oversaw the arrest of a pastor for violating lockdown orders during the pandemic.
Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne was arrested by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in March 2020 for holding a church service.
He was charged with misdemeanors for unlawful assembly and violating public health orders.
“Announcing the arrest of Dr. Ronald Howard-Browne, Pastor of The River at Tampa Bay Church, who intentionally and repeatedly disregarded state and local public health orders, which put his congregation and our community in danger,” Chronister wrote on X in March 2020.
Prosecutors later dropped the charges against Howard-Browne.
Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) slammed the decision to nominate Chronister after his tyrannical actions.
“I’m going to call ‘em like I see ’em. Trump’s nominee for head of DEA should be disqualified for ordering the arrest [of] a pastor who defied COVID lockdowns,” Massie wrote on X.
Former One America News host Liz Wheeler urged Trump to pull the nomination.
“Chad Chronister is a COVID tyrant who arrested a Christian pastor for holding church in person during the pandemic. Chronister held a press conference bragging about the arrest. Chronister abused his power; he’s unfit to lead the DEA. Trump should withdraw his nomination,” Wheeler wrote on X.
Florida Sheriff Withdraws After Conservative Backlash
Chronister announced that he was withdrawing from consideration to be DEA Administrator after a fierce backlash from conservatives.
“To have been nominated by President-Elect Donald Trump to serve as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is the honor of a lifetime. Over the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I’ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration,” Chronister wrote. “There is more work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling.”
The Sheriff did not give a specific reason as to why he withdrew his name.
FBI whistleblower Garret O’Boyle urged the voters of Hillsborough County to replace him.
“Outpouring of support? Uh, no. There was not an outpouring of support. There was a realization that you are a tyrant and advocate of woke policies,” O’Boyle wrote on X. “Hopefully the people of Hillsborough County will be smart enough to elect someone else as soon as possible.”
Massie reacted to Chronister withdrawing his name by telling him to follow the Constitution.
“This sheriff ordered the arrest of a pastor for holding services during the COVID panic. He was tapped by Trump to head the DEA. Glad to see him withdraw from consideration. Next time politicians lose their ever-lovin minds, he can redeem himself by following the Constitution,” Massie wrote on X.
