The Left is determined to demonize guns.
And in one neighborhood altercation, liberals thought for sure the “guy with the gun” would be found guilty.
But a judge issued a major victory for gun owners that sent a loud and clear message to crooks in Florida.
Do not mess with an armed man
Criminals are really something else.
They think they can rob people in their homes and walk away “unharmed” if caught.
Other bad guys think they can invade a man’s property lacing out vulgar threats and expect homeowners to retreat in fear.
But thanks to Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, one bad guy found out the hard way he threatened the wrong dude.
After a heated escalation, 79-year-old Floridian Edward Druzolowski shot and killed his neighbor.
Prosecutors were determined to get Druzolowski and make an example out of him.
Except their plan to “crucify the gun owner” backfired in a major way.
Free citizens can stand their ground
States like New York do not have Stand Your Ground laws, and insist folks have the “duty to retreat” if threatened with harm.
But not in Florida.
Instead of siding with the bad guys, Florida’s Stand Your Ground laws allow folks to use deadly force in self-defense if needed if they believe they are in danger.
The law states they have no “duty to retreat” if they are in a dwelling or residence which they have the right to be in.
As it should be.
And in Florida, a dispute over a tree branch on one man’s property led to a guy being shot to death.
Brian Ford began trimming tree branches on Druzolowski’s property, and when Druzolowski asked him to leave, Ford became aggressive, Click Orlando reported.
Court records revealed Ford had a violent past, and even got violent with his own mother.
What a classy guy!
Ford’s long criminal record spans over 20 years and includes charges of felony battery and attempted aggravated battery.
Even more obnoxious, Ford was proud he was such a “tough guy” and even boasted about his past history of “beating up fellow inmates” while in prison.
So when Ford refused to get off Druzolowski’s property, even ignoring the warning he would be shot if he did not comply, he learned the hard way Druzolowski was not bluffing.
A major victory for gun owners
Druzolowski had every right to feel as though Ford was a threat to his life.
At the time, Druzolowski was 78 years old, and his violent neighbor refused to get off his property while becoming hot-headed and aggressive.
So he shot Ford, who died.
But prosecutors wanted Druzolowski to pay for using a gun, even though Ford was the bad guy.
Druzolowski was facing second-degree murder, but after hearing what happened, the judge dismissed the case.
Judge Dawn Nichols wrote “Based upon the aggressive actions of Mr. Ford, his violent reputation, the age and size differences between the two men, the defendant believed that such force was reasonably necessary to defend himself from Mr. Ford’s imminent use of unlawful force,” Click Orlando reported.
And there you have it!
Ford was warned and he did not listen.
Other bad guys should take note, if you mess with someone in Florida you just might get shot.
