Picking up clean clothes from the dry cleaners is usually a pretty boring task.
But not this time.
And when a knife-wielding maniac met an off-duty police officer, their bizarre encounter went viral and left everyone talking.
An old man with a knife
Glenn Gotell, a 73-year-old, lived an active life for an old guy.
But one Tuesday afternoon, instead of playing golf with his buddies he made a quick stop to the dry cleaners.
Sounds basic and boring enough, except he had a knife and was trying to rob the place.
Yikes!
But Glenn’s plans were ruined when an off-duty police officer walked in the door.
The officer was there simply to retrieve his own clothes, but soon realized what was happening.
Clearly, he was not going to let Glenn get away with robbery right in front of his face.
So, he tried to stop the heist.
But Glenn was determined to continue!
In a brief moment, Glenn panicked.
He lost his marbles and retaliated, stabbing the police officer, not once, but twice, Fox News reported.
A runaway crook with a stolen car
Old man, Glenn could have stopped right there and turned himself in.
But he refused.
Instead, he had the “genius” idea to steal the police officer’s patrol car to escape.
He realized he was in over his head and knew he needed to ditch the car, so he did and then decided to hide at a local library.
But his gig was up.
After following the trail he left behind, police officers marched right into the library, to look for Glenn, Fox News reported.
According to the Affidavit, officers found Glenn standing inside a bathroom stall with a pair of hair clippers.
Yikes.
Apparently, Glenn was busy shaving his face and attempting to change his hair to alter his appearance and fool police officers.
But the gig was up.
Glenn was arrested and taken away before he could hurt anyone else.
Another dumb crook behind bars
Glenn really did it this time.
Not only is he behind bars, but he faces a host of pretty serious charges like attempted murder of a police officer, armed robbery, armed burglary, and grand theft of a vehicle.
Crooks in other states might get a free pass but DeSantis runs a tight ship in Florida.
Law-breakers and violent criminals need to learn their out-of-control behavior will not fly in the Sunshine State.
