A lawmaker had one scary question over hurricane recovery that left Kamala nervous

Oct 31, 2024

The Biden-Harris administration’s response to the hurricanes that hit Florida was an abysmal failure.

Storm victims got the short end of the stick.

And a lawmaker had one scary question over hurricane recovery that left Kamala nervous.

Florida lawmaker questions what happened to hurricane relief for small businesses

Florida took a one-two hit in the span of two weeks when Hurricanes Helene and Milton made landfall on the state’s Gulf Coast.

Representative Greg Steube’s (R-FL) district covers Siesta Key, Florida, where Hurricane Milton made landfall.

He has become a vocal critic of the Biden-Harris administration’s response to hurricanes.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has come under fire from critics for its terrible response to the storms.

Business owners were left in the lurch because of another failure by the Biden-Harris administration.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) ran out of money after Hurricane Milton for its Economic Injury Disaster Loans to businesses and individuals after the storms.

Congress was asked to pass additional funding for the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan program the next time it is in session.

Steube asked SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman for information about disaster loans made to non-citizens after his agency ran out of money.

He wanted to know how many “qualified aliens” received disaster relief from the SBA.

Qualified aliens have either temporary status in the country or are permanent residents.

Another potential scandal giving away disaster relief money to non-citizens

FEMA came under fire after Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the agency was out of money after Hurricane Helene.

The Biden-Harris administration hijacked FEMA to use it as an illegal alien resettlement agency.

FEMA spent more than $600 million this year on transporting and caring for illegal aliens.

Steube demanded to know if illegal aliens who were paroled by the Biden-Harris administration received SBA disaster relief.

“It’s unacceptable that as Floridians struggle to rebuild after three major hurricanes, disaster relief funds may be going to noncitizens while American citizens are left waiting,” Steube wrote.

“The Biden-Harris administration has expanded parole programs for illegal immigrants,” Steube continued. “How many individuals admitted under these lenient policies are now eligible for SBA disaster relief? Particularly now that the SBA has exhausted their disaster loan program funds, it’s critical that the SBA is transparent about how much funding they’ve distributed to noncitizens.”

Steube pointed out that American citizens in his district are still waiting on federal disaster relief.

The Florida lawmaker inquired how many qualified aliens received disaster relief and how much money was spent on them.

Steube is also trying to crack down on Chinese-owned businesses receiving disaster relief from the SBA.

He introduced a bill that would block small businesses with connections to China from being eligible to receive disaster relief.

Any business that has 25% of its stock held by China or has its headquarters in China from SBA money.

“We must take action and prioritize America and its people by supporting our small businesses, ensuring they remain the driving force behind our prosperity,” Steube said. “NO relief should go to companies with financial or political ties to China or its communist regime.”

The Biden-Harris administration continues to find horrifying new ways to put Americans last.
