A Miami quarterback woke up and discovered he was the victim of this awful crime

Feb 26, 2025

Being the star quarterback in Miami comes with plenty of perks.

It also puts a target on your back.

And the Miami quarterback woke up and discovered he was the victim of this awful crime.

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck has two luxury vehicles stolen

University of Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck was one of the most high-profile players to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Beck left the University of Georgia after starting two seasons for the Bulldogs to spend his final year of eligibility in South Florida.

The quarterback’s girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, is a star player on the Hurricanes women’s basketball team.

Beck was able to cash in on his status as the most coveted quarterback in the transfer portal with a major payday from his name, image, and likeness (NIL).

He and Cavinder were the victims of a shocking crime in Southwest Miami-Dade County.

Thieves stole Beck’s Lamborghini Urus SUV and his Mercedes Benz E635 while Cavinder had her Land Rover stolen.

Neighbor Doris Lenel told CBS Miami she was stunned at the news.

“I heard that a couple of cars got stolen, and I was surprised that it was a quarterback, I think, from the University of Miami,” Lenel said.

Police recovered the Mercedes Benz at an apartment complex near Beck’s home.

The Land Rover was also found nearby.

Retired Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Major Ignacio Alvarez suspected that it was an organized theft ring behind the stolen vehicles.

“They usually park the vehicles and let them sit for a couple of days. If the cars get picked up, you know they had a targeting device. If they don’t, then you just come back, grab them and move on,” Alvarez explained.

“I find it strange that you get three cars taken at the same time. That tells me that this was something organized—either using three tow trucks or a team of six to 10 people,” Alvarez added.

Alvarez noted there has been a string of robberies at the homes of NBA and NFL players across the country.

“We’ve seen similar cases with NFL and NBA players, and with social media making personal information readily available, these organized crimes are finding it easier to target individuals,” Alvarez stated.

Arrest made in theft of Miami quarterback’s luxury vehicles

Tykwon DeAndre Anderson, a 20-year-old, was arrested for his role in the theft of Beck and Cavinder’s vehicles.

He is facing three felony charges, including grand theft auto and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

The police report said that Anderson and three other suspects were able to scale a concrete fence and make it to Beck’s driveway.

Two of the vehicles were parked in the driveway, including Cavinder’s Range Rover.

Anderson and his crew broke into the Range Rover and used the garage door opener in it to get access to the third vehicle.

They broke into the home from the garage, where they found the key fobs for the vehicles.

Anderson confessed to being involved in the thefts after he was arrested.

High-profile athletes are not safe from the surge in crime that began under former President Joe Biden.
