The airline has had numerous videos of passengers and employees brawling go viral on social media.
A Spirit Airlines flight attendant added to the rowdy reputation of the airline after getting arrested at a brewery.
Annie Bryn Flaherty, 36, was at the Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, Florida enjoying the evening with her boyfriend when things got out of control in a hurry.
The couple got into a vicious fight after an alleged insult at the popular restaurant and brewery.
A Broward County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the scene to determine what was happening after customers called the police after the couple’s arguing.
“While conversing, [her boyfriend] make a joke calling her a ‘junkie,’ Annie took the joke personally and became upset starting to cry,” the police report said. “Annie stated [he] ‘beat me up’ leaving bruises, however, the report did not explain in detail how the alleged battery occurred.”
The boyfriend admitted to the deputy that he called Flaherty a junkie and gave his side of the story.
Boyfriend calling his girlfriend a junkie sparked an all-out brawl
The boyfriend said that they got into an argument in the brewery that continued when he left to go outside.
“Annie followed behind arguing with him while the two were in the car. At this time, [he] called Annie a ‘junkie,’” the police report said.
Flaherty began to act “erratically” at this point after her boyfriend’s remark.
“Annie then picked up a can of beer and attempted to pour it on him, however [he] was able to redirect her hand,” the police report stated. “After such failed attempt of trying to pour beer on [him], Annie picked up a glass beer bottle from the car and hit [her boyfriend] on the right side of his head.”
Police found that Flaherty “unlawfully and intentionally” hit her boyfriend in the head with a beer bottle “likely to cause death or serious injury.”
The beer bottle attack got her charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
She was taken to the Broward County Jail where she was released after posting bond.
Her boyfriend’s condition after the beer bottle attack was not released.
Another strange twist in the case came after her affidavit listed Spirit Airlines as her employer.
The New York Post contacted Spirit and the company claimed that she had not worked there in years.
