Byron Donalds put the establishment on notice for one big mistake with Trump’s agenda

Feb 11, 2025

Donald Trump’s Presidency is off to a fast start.

But he has a major battle ahead of him.

And Byron Donalds put the establishment on notice for one big mistake with Trump’s agenda.

House Republicans battle over how to move forward with Trump’s legislative agenda

President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are debating over the best way to move forward with his legislative agenda.

Congress is debating over whether to move one or two bills using the reconciliation process because Senate Republicans only have a 53-47 majority.

Budget reconciliation bills can avoid a filibuster by the Senate Democrats, but they must be strictly related to spending issues.

Trump wants to pass a border security bill that includes funding for mass deportations, construction on the border wall, more Border Patrol agents, and additional border security measures at the southern border.

He also wants to pass an extension and expansion of his landmark 2017 tax cuts.

Congress has debated pursuing two separate bills or rolling everything into one giant bill.

There is also pressure to move quickly on the tax cuts because many of the provisions from the 2017 tax cuts are set to expire shortly.

Some Congressional Republicans have leaned toward pushing a border bill first and then going with tax cuts later in the year.

Trump and Congressional Republicans know what they want to accomplish.

They just have to figure out what road they want to take.

Byron Donalds warns Republicans are getting bogged down in process

House Republicans held a closed-door meeting on strategy that left members frustrated.

RINO Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) urged everyone to be patient.

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) was frustrated with the inaction on the part of leadership.

“Byron Donalds stood up and called on his party’s leadership to stop stalling,” CNN reporter Annie Grayer wrote.

The Florida lawmaker talked with reporters after the meeting about the state of play.

“I think we’re stuck in the mud,” Donalds said, adding House Republicans were suffering from “paralysis of analysis.”

Donalds is a supporter of the two-bill strategy.

“I think at this point we need to just make a clear decision,” Donalds added.

Johnson has aimed to pass tax cuts and border security in one bill by Memorial Day.

He talked about the strategy on Fox News in January.

“Yeah, he [Trump] and I have talked about this quite a bit, as you might imagine, over the last few months, determining the pros and cons of the two different strategies,” Johnson said.

He noted that the Senate is in favor of the two-bill strategy.

“The idea would be to get something done on the border and maybe defense spending right out of the blocks or very quickly and what we would call a skinny reconciliation bill and then do the rest of it in a larger chunk later,” Johnson explained.

“But I think at the end of the day, President Trump is going to prefer, as he likes to say, one big, beautiful bill,” Johnson added. “And there’s a lot of merit to that because we can put it all together – one big up or down vote – which can save the country quite literally because there are so many elements to it.”

Congressional Republicans need to hammer out a strategy to get Donald Trump’s agenda passed.
