Canadian politicians made one trip to Mar-a-Lago to give Donald Trump surprising news

Donald Trump is headed toward a showdown with the Canadian government.

The tide is already turning in the battle.

And Canadian politicians made one trip to Mar-a-Lago to give Donald Trump surprising news.

Top Canadian ministers visit Mar-a-Lago to discuss border security

The border between the United States and Canada is the longest in the world and mostly unguarded.

Under President Joe Biden there has been a surge in illegal immigration and drugs coming across the northern border.

That is why President-elect Donald Trump threatened to put a 25% tariff on every product from Canada unless the country took action to stop the flow of illegal aliens and drugs at the northern border.

Trump playing hardball is getting results from the Canadians

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flew to Mar-a-Lago to have dinner with Trump after he issued his threat of tariffs.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford responded by threatening to cut electricity generated in his province from 1.5 million homes in the United States.

But that saber-rattling turned out to be an empty threat.

Trudeau’s Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump’s nominee for Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Interior Department nominee Doug Burgum to discuss border security.

“Both Ministers outlined the measures in Canada’s Border Plan and reiterated the shared commitment to strengthen border security as well as combat the harm caused by fentanyl to save Canadian and American lives,” a statement said.

“During their conversations, Lutnick and Burgum took note of the updates provided by both Ministers and agreed to relay information to President Trump,” the statement added.

Canada takes action to improve border security after Trump threat

The Canadians came up with a plan to improve border security and crack down on fentanyl production in the country in response to Trump’s demand.

Canada wants to build surveillance towers on the northern border and equip the Canada Border Services Agency with more drones and helicopters.

LeBlanc said that he felt “optimistic” about improved cooperation on border security with the United States.

Trump’s new “Border Czar” Tom Homan spoke with Canadian authorities and came away encouraged by what he has heard.

“The conversation I have in Canada, I couldn’t ask for a better conversation,” Homan told CTV News. “Of course, actions have to follow, but I’m very optimistic from the conversation I had that we’re going to come up with a good border security plan.”

LeBlanc said that there is still work to do but progress is being made.

“It’s an important step to show Canadians and our American partners that we share their concern around border security and border integrity,” LeBlanc stated. “We have taken note of President Trump’s comments.”

Other Canadian politicians have been meeting with Trump world to discuss cooperation.

Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai traveled to North Carolina to speak with Donald Trump, Jr. about the relationship between the two nations.

Donald Trump has already gotten Canada to take action on border security and he has not even taken office yet.
