Democrats are changing direction after getting crushed in the 2024 Election.
They turned to new leadership to lead them forward.
And Democrats are fuming that this awful Florida man was given a leadership role in the party.
Democrats are upset about David Hogg profiting off his leadership role in the party
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) elected new leadership as the party tries to chart a path forward during President Donald Trump’s second term.
David Hogg, a 24-year-old gun control activist, was elected to serve as a Vice Chair of the DNC.
Hogg was a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida during the 2018 shooting.
He capitalized on the tragedy to become a gun control advocate and left-wing political activist.
Democrats are already upset over his position as DNC Vice Chair less than a month after he got the job.
Hogg founded the Leaders We Deserve PAC which pays him an annual salary of more than $100,000 a year.
The PAC has faced scrutiny for its overhead and generous compensation for Hogg.
Hogg is using his newfound position at the DNC to use the party’s donor list to fundraise for his PAC.
“David Hogg here: I was just elected DNC Vice Chair! This is a huge win for our movement to make the Democratic Party more reflective of our base: youthful, energetic, and ready to win,” a text message from Hogg went out to cellphone numbers of DNC donors.
The text message included a link to donate to the Leaders We Deserve PAC.
Hogg is not breaking any rules using phone numbers from the DNC but he has left some Democrats feeling scammed.
Democrat insiders told the New York Post that the DNC’s phone numbers should be reserved for helping the party, not fundraising for a PAC that pays Hogg a large salary.
“David Hogg — talk about living up to your name. A trough of DNC dollars all for him and he doesn’t seem to give an oink,” a prominent Democrat told the Post.
Living high on the hog from the DNC
The most recent campaign finance data shows that the Leaders We Deserve PAC paid Hogg $20,000 in December 2024.
The DNC is supposed to build a war chest to help the party in the 2026 Midterm Elections.
But Hogg is siphoning money for his PAC that could be going to the DNC.
“It’s especially important for all Democratic national officials to focus on raising support for the party and not using their position to raise money for themselves or their personal political PACS,” a top Democrat official said. “It’s a stunning lack of judgment that is concerning to many people.”
Some Democrats consider the 24-year-old a liability because of his lack of experience and support for far-left positions like defunding the police.
Fellow Parkland survivor Cameron Kasky was disappointed in the situation.
“I mean it’s just very frustrating to be in a party in desperate need of increased accountability for our struggling leadership, and watch someone who is never held accountable ascend to leadership,” Kasky said.
Democrats are off to a rocky start as they try to get their party back on track.
