Disney waived the white flag of surrender in this big fight with Ron DeSantis

Jun 20, 2024

Disney went to war with Ron DeSantis over his bold conservative agenda.

But the woke entertainment conglomerate was forced to face reality.

And Disney waved the white flag of surrender in this big fight with Ron DeSantis.

Disney picked a fight it could not win against Ron DeSantis

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis faced the full fury of the Left over his parental rights in education bill.

The bill prevented students in grades K-3 from being taught radical ideologies or sexual orientation in the classroom.

Democrats, the media, and Disney came after the Florida Governor for trying to protect the innocence of children.

That fight sparked a push by DeSantis and the Florida Legislature to strip Disney of the special privileges the state government granted it over its resort in Central Florida.

Disney controlled the services for the area like the building codes, roads, utilities, law enforcement, and the fire department.

Florida created the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District after removing Disney’s special privileges to oversee the Disney resorts like a county government.

Disney sued DeSantis to keep its special privileges claiming it was stripped away as retaliation for opposing the parental rights law, a violation of its First Amendment rights.

Democrats and their media allies predicted that Disney would get the upper hand in its legal fight against DeSantis.

Disney drops its lawsuit against Ron DeSantis and moves forward with developments

Disney reached an agreement with the DeSantis administration to drop its lawsuit as part of a settlement.

That closes the book on the legal battle between the pair with the Florida Governor walking away the clear victor.

A federal court dismissed Disney’s lawsuit in January, but the company appealed.

An agreement between Walt Disney World and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District will pave the way for a major development.

Disney will be able to build a fifth major theme park at the resort to join Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

The company will invest $17 billion over the next ten to twenty years into its Central Florida properties.

Disney was also given the green light to build two minor theme parks as well as additional hotels, retail space, and restaurants at the resorts.

The agreement will see the Oversight District upgrade the infrastructure in and around Disney’s resorts.

Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle said the agreement “paves the way for us to invest billions of dollars in Walt Disney World Resort, supporting the growth of this global destination, fueling the Florida economy, and allowing us to deliver even more memorable and extraordinary experiences for our guests.”

The fight between DeSantis and Disney got nasty with the national media taking the side of the woke entertainment conglomerate.

Now the company has admitted defeat and is embarking on its biggest project in Florida in decades.

Ron DeSantis held the line against the biggest employer and the most influential company in Florida.

Now he has been rewarded for refusing to back down against the corporate titan.
