Disney acts like the typical left-wing, virtual signaling Hollywood studio.
But there was an awful secret that the company did not want to get out.
And Disney was hit with a lawsuit over this horrible allegation of discrimination.
Disney sued over alleged discrimination against white employee
Disney has become infamous for the woke messaging the company has injected into its TV shows and movies.
The entertainment powerhouse was not practicing what it preached when it came to equality, according to a new lawsuit.
Former Marvel chief financial officer Robert Steffens filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Disney because the company’s former CEO Bob Chapek denied him a promotion because he was “another old white guy.”
Steffens was an executive at Marvel from 2015 to 2023.
He sought a promotion to become president of Disney consumer products.
Then-Marvel CEO Isaac Perlmutter told Steffans in February 2022 that Chapek relayed to him that the promotion would not be given because of his age and race.
Disney gave the job to a woman of “ambiguous ethnicity,” the lawsuit claimed.
Chapek was replaced as Disney CEO later in 2022 after he led the company’s war against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his parental rights in education law.
Disney’s woke agenda could cost the company big-time
Steffan’s lawsuit alleges that “woke” Disney took part in an “official effort to promote vice presidents based on their race and a memorandum that would have referred to employees with the racial signifier ‘BIPOC’ [black, indigenous, and people of color].”
Disney CEO Bob Iger fired Perlmutter in 2023.
Perlmutter and activist investor Nelson Peltz tried to take control of Disney’s board of directors in 2023 to steer the company away from wokeness after a series of high-profile movies and TV shows bombed.
The lawsuit claims Disney behaved in a “willful, wanton, malicious, intentional, oppressive and despicable and were done in willful and conscious disregard of the rights, welfare and safety of [Steffens].”
“Our primary focus is on the facts and the law, and we will vigorously defend our client’s interests,” Steffens attorney Marcella Burke told Fox News.
The lawsuit comes as Disney begins to retreat from its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda.
Disney shuttered its “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Reimagine Tomorrow was used for “amplifying underrepresented voices” at the company.
Conservative activist Christopher Rufo revealed a leaked video of a Disney conference related to Reimagine Tomorrow where executive producer Latoya Raveneau bragged about her “not at all secret gay agenda” in kid’s programming.
“On my little pocket of Proud Family Disney TVA, the showrunners were super welcoming… our leadership over there has been super welcoming to my not-at-all-secret gay agenda… they’re going hard… I don’t have to be afraid to have these two characters kiss in the background. I was just, wherever I could, adding queerness,” Raveneau said.
Disney went all in on wokeness throughout the entire company.
That could cost them big time if the discrimination lawsuit against them is successful.
