Disney has made pushing the woke agenda on children the centerpiece of its content in recent years.
The company found itself in the middle of another controversy involving transgenderism.
An episode of the kids’ cartoon series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will no longer air in the upcoming season of the show on the Disney Channel and Disney+.
The episode “The Gatekeeper” features a storyline involving a boy who identifies as a girl who tries to play on the school volleyball team.
An Adult coach pushes back on this character trying to play on the girls’ volleyball team but no one on the team reportedly cares.
The story portrays the adult as a bigot for trying to keep the character from playing.
A leaked version of the episode was viewed by The Verge which claimed it featured trans and gay pride flags in it.
One member of the crew blamed the episode being shelved on the election of President-elect Donald Trump.
“One of the projects (episode) I worked on is getting shelved because of which party that won the recent election,” storyboard artist Derrick Malik Johnson wrote on social media. “It breaks my heart knowing this impactful and amazing [episode] is now about to be considered a lost media episode.”
Moon Girl storyboard artist Emmy Cicirega lashed out at Disney on social media.
“Disney should be ashamed of themselves for canning this episode,” Cicirega wrote on X. “You don’t get to approve approve approve something and then destroy it at the last minute, shattering the crews hard work and hopes.”

Disney has hemorrhaged money from pumping out unpopular movies and TV shows that prioritized delivering a woke message over everything.
There was hope that this was changing when Disney CEO Bob Iger stressed the company was focusing on entertainment over “any kind of agenda” during the company’s shareholder meeting earlier this year.
He was asked if Disney should avoid politics to focus on entertainment.
Iger claimed the company’s mission was to “entertain, first and foremost.”
“I’ve always believed that we have a responsibility to do good in the world, but we know our job is not to advance any kind of agenda,” Iger claimed. “For as long as I’m in the job, I’m going to continue to be guided by a sense of decency and respect, and we’ll always trust our instincts.”
A Disney source told Polygon that the company did not pull the episode over the election and the decision was made before it happened.
The decision to pull it was not based on a transgender character being included in the episode.
Disney animated series creator Matt Braly noted that if an episode got this far in the process it was approved by the company multiple times.
The company could be waiting for the storm to blow over before it decides to put the episode on the air.
