Disney removes transgender storyline from children’s program
Disney built a reputation over decades for delivering family-friendly content that everyone could enjoy.
The company burned its hard reputation and lost billions of dollars by injecting LGBTQ+ storylines into its TV shows and movies.
Disney executive Latoya Raveneau was caught on an internal video saying the company has a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and is often “adding queerness” into programming for kids.
Audiences have revolted against Disney resulting in movies that bombed at the box office.
But the company never seemed to learn its lesson despite mounting financial losses.
Disney stunned the world when it announced it backed down over a controversial storyline in a cartoon series.
The Pixar animated series Win or Lose was going to have a transgender cartoon character in it.
A character in the show was going to talk about gender identity but that has been scrubbed from the series that is set to be released in February.
The show is about a middle school softball team named the Pickles preparing to play in the championship game.
Each episode is from the perspective of the various characters in the series.
Disney confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that the transgender storyline was removed from the series.
“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” a Disney spokesman said.
The character will remain but will not be identified as transgender.
Chanel Stewart, an 18-year-old transgender who voiced the character was crushed at the change.
“I was very disheartened,” Stewart told Deadline. “From the moment I got the script, I was excited to share my journey to help empower other trans youth. I knew this would be a very important conversation. Trans stories matter, and they deserve to be heard.”
This is a sea change for Disney after it pushed LGBTQ+ storylines at all costs despite a backlash from audiences.

The company went to war with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his parental rights bill that banned students in grades K-3 from being taught radical gender ideologies and sexual orientation.
Pixar faced a massive backlash in 2022 when it released the Toy Story spinoff Lightyear which featured gay characters.
The movie was censored in some countries because of its content.
A transgender episode was removed from another Disney children’s series earlier this year.
The Marvel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur had an episode centered on a transgender character that was filmed removed from the upcoming season of the show.
President-elect Donald Trump’s victory was a sign that culture was shifting over wokeness.
Disney may have finally gotten the wake-up call.
