Donald Trump is used to having to fight Democrats for every inch.
Something changed after his decisive victory in the election.
And Donald Trump got one honor from Florida Democrats that threw him for a loop.
Donald J. Trump Avenue is coming to Florida city with the help of Democrats
President-elect Donald Trump won a landslide victory in Florida this election that confirmed that the state has transformed into a fully red one.
He became the first Republican since the 1988 Election to win Miami-Dade County.
Trump lost the county by nearly 30 points in the 2016 Election but he carried it on election night by more than 11 points.
The Miami-Dade County Commission decided to honor the 45th and soon-to-be 47th President of the United States by naming a street after him.
A 9-1 vote by the county commissioners which included four Democrats, co-designate Palm Avenue in the city of Hialeah as Donald J. Trump Avenue.
Democrats control most seats on the county commission and could have voted down the name change.
Only Democrat Miami-Dade County Commissioner Marleine Bastien, a Haitian-American activist, voted against the proposal.
She voted against the proposal because of what she claimed were inappropriate comments about immigrants.
“I respect the fact that President Trump won the popular vote, the Electoral College, and Miami-Dade County,” Bastien said in a statement. “However, his victory does not erase the collective trauma that immigrants and citizens alike felt during this election cycle.”
Others on the commission celebrated the news.
“President Donald J. Trump Avenue is official in Miami-Dade County!” Republican Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera wrote on X. “Today, we ratified the City of Hialeah’s initiative to honor President Trump’s legacy of championing freedom and opportunity by co-designating Palm Avenue — a vital artery in our community — as ‘President Donald J. Trump Avenue.’”

Trump signed one of the road signs that will soon be going up.
“Miami-Dade County strongly supported President Trump during the election, and this designation serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and vision for our nation,” Cabrera added.
Miami-Dade County was ground zero for Trump’s gains with Hispanics
Hialeah, a 94% Hispanic city, voted for Trump by 53 points in the election.
Trump turned in the best performance with Hispanic voters ever by a Republican Presidential candidate based on exit polling.
Miami-Dade County is 70% Hispanic and has shifted to the Right in every Presidential election since 2016.
The President-elect’s growing support with Hispanic voters caught the eye of Miami Mayor Francis Saurez (R).
“If you’re surprised by these numbers, then you haven’t been listening to Hispanics,” Saurez wrote on X.
Suarez shared a YouGov poll that found Trump with a 48% approval rating among Hispanics compared to 45% who disapproved.
Hialeah Mayor Esteban “Steve” Bovo proposed redesignating a street in his city after Trump last year.
“Our city LOVES Donald Trump. The Cuban American community feels a sense of gratitude towards him,” Bovo said.
Donald Trump did what the Republican establishment thought was once unthinkable by expanding the GOP’s support with Hispanic voters by being for tough border security.
