Donald Trump is preparing to make one cabinet appointment that could make Casey DeSantis a U.S. Senator

Donald Trump instantly hit the ground running after his landslide victory over Kamala Harris last Tuesday.

He is traveling to Washington, D.C. this week for a meeting with Joe Biden at the White House.

But Donald Trump is preparing to make one cabinet appointment that could make Casey DeSantis a U.S. Senator.

The American people gave Donald Trump the tough job of cleaning up the mess Joe Biden and the Democrats created over the past four years.

But Donald Trump is excited about cleaning out the Deep State and getting America back on track.

Trump is already aggressively filling his cabinet with loyal allies like Stephen Miller as his Deputy Chief of Staff, Tom Homan as his “border czar,” and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as his Homeland Security Secretary.

On Wednesday, Trump is scheduled to meet with Speaker Mike Johnson and other GOP leaders on Capitol Hill.

He is also expected to visit Joe Biden at the White House.

On Monday, the New York Times reported that Donald Trump was preparing to name Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his Secretary of State.

Rubio just won re-election in 2022, and his Senate seat is not up for re-election until 2028.

This means that if Donald Trump appoints Rubio as his Secretary of State, then Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would get to select someone to fill the seat for the next four years.

“President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as his secretary of state, three people familiar with his thinking said on Monday, as Mr. Trump moves rapidly to fill out his foreign policy and national security team,” the Times reported. “Mr. Trump could still change his mind at the last minute, the people said, but appeared to have settled on Mr. Rubio, whom he also considered when choosing his running mate this year.”

Of course, this could end up being false given it is the New York Times.

But rumors are already swirling about who Governor DeSantis would select as Rubio’s replacement if Donald Trump names him as his Secretary of State.

“Some think he could go with a seasoned state official, like Attorney General Ashley Moody, who has a long record as a trusty law-and-order sidekick to DeSantis, and she’d easily satisfy Trump’s supporters,” The Capitolist reported. “But Moody might also be facing a strategic dilemma: does she ride up to Washington, or does he stay put in Florida and go all-in for the Governor’s mansion in 2026?”

If DeSantis appoints someone from his own cabinet, it would require him to scramble and find a replacement.

However, there is one appointment DeSantis could make that would not require any other moves on his part.

And that is appointing his wife Casey to fill the Senate seat.

Casey DeSantis is popular in Florida.

Polls have previously shown her as a top contender to replace her husband as the next Governor of Florida.

But they also have young children.

And even though Ron DeSantis could appoint his wife to the seat, he will likely choose someone other than Casey as the next Senator.
