Donald Trump shared one set of poll numbers that Casey DeSantis will hate

Feb 20, 2025

Rumors are circulating in Florida that Casey DeSantis is planning to run for Governor in 2026.

Casey DeSantis would start with an advantage due to her name recognition and her husband’s popularity.

But Donald Trump just shared one set of poll numbers that Casey DeSantis will hate.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was once considered by many as the one Republican who had a shot at taking the GOP nomination from Donald Trump.

DeSantis catapulted into the national spotlight during the pandemic when he rejected Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci’s lockdown orders and banned mask and vaccine mandates in Florida.

But DeSantis was just getting started.

He soon garnered rock star status among GOP voters when he showed Republicans that it was possible to fight and win against the woke Left.

DeSantis was expected to be a real threat to Donald Trump for the GOP nomination, but he failed to gain momentum despite the hundreds of millions of dollars he had on hand.

Trump and DeSantis took shots at each other and traded barbs during the Primary.

DeSantis eventually dropped out after his distant second-place showing in the Iowa Caucus and endorsed Donald Trump.

Even though Trump and DeSantis are no longer attacking each other, they are no longer close allies after the 2024 GOP Primary attacks.

DeSantis’ second term ends in 2026.

Under Florida law, he is not allowed to serve three consecutive terms.

But DeSantis has done amazing work as Governor of Florida.

Many pundits and strategists expect DeSantis to run for President again in 2028.

Florida has historically been one of the biggest swing states in the country, but DeSantis turned it into a solid red state with a supermajority in the State Legislature.

Democrats held a 300,000-plus registration advantage over Republicans when DeSantis entered office, but there’s now more than one-million registered Republicans than there are Democrats.

Ron DeSantis may not be eligible to run in 2026, but his wife Casey is.

Casey DeSantis is one of the most popular First Ladies in Florida history.

Since his first bid for Governor in 2018, Casey has played an instrumental role in her husband’s administration.

As a former Emmy-Award winning television personality, Casey DeSantis is comfortable speaking to large crowds and conducting interviews with the media.

And according to a new poll by the University of North Florida, Casey DeSantis is favored in the 2026 Governor’s race.

“Casey DeSantis was the top early pick for potential Republican primary candidates when we asked back in late 2023, albeit with only 22% support,” PORL faculty director and professor of political science Dr. Michael Binder said. “She likely enjoys some favorability by association as Florida’s first lady, but most of these potential candidates suffer from a lack of recognition—some suffering more than others.

But Donald Trump threw cold water on the DeSantis’ by sharing a poll that showed Florida Representative Byron Donalds leading in the Governor’s race.

The poll showed Donalds with a 27-point lead over the rest of the field.

Donalds is a top ally of Trump.

He made his shortlist of Vice Presidential candidates in 2024.

And Donalds was the only member of Congress to join Trump and his family on stage at Trump’s Inauguration Day parade.

“What a future this one has,” Trump told the crowd regarding Donalds.

Only time will tell whether Casey DeSantis runs for Governor.

But it could be a nasty primary if she runs and Trump backs Donalds.
