Donald Trump’s decisive victory this year has changed the political landscape in America, and across the western world for that matter.
Over the last decade, Donald Trump and his political movement has completely reshaped the electorate and the political map, turning blue states into red states, and swing states into reliable red states.
And Donald Trump was overjoyed after this top Florida Democrat said enough is enough.
Florida’s Republican Party just gained a new member after this dismayed Democrat gives up
Most Americans can remember the 2000 election, which came down to just a handful of votes in Florida.
In every election since then, political experts have regarded Florida as a vital swing state, awarding a whopping 29 Electoral College votes to the victor.
However, in this election, Donald Trump carried Florida with ease, defeating Kamala Harris in the sunshine state by a margin of 56 to 43.
For comparison, Kamala Harris won the state of New York, a Democrat stronghold, by about the same margin.
Meanwhile, Senator Rick Scott also cruised to victory in Florida this year, also winning with a comfortable margin.
Donald Trump has completely changed the political map, turning Florida into a bastion for Conservative politics and politicians.
The Republican Party has become an undeniable force in the Sunshine State, with more people falling into their ranks every day.
In fact, just the other day, Democrat Florida state Rep. Hillary Cassel announced her intentions to defect to the Republican party.
Hillary Cassel announced this move in a public statement, telling her constituents, “Today, I am announcing my decision to change my party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.”
“I will be joining the Republican Conference of the Florida House of Representatives because I believe in their vision for a better, more prosperous Florida,” the Florida lawmaker added.
Many Florida Republicans have lauded this move, which bolsters their control in Florida’s House of Representatives.
With this change, Republicans now have a commanding majority of 87 to 33 in the Florida’s lower House.
President-elect Donald Trump joined the chorus of Republicans praising Cassel’s shift, stating on Truth Social, “Congratulations to Hillary Cassel for becoming the second State Representative from the Great State of Florida to switch her Party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, once more expanding the GOP Supermajority in the State House!”
He added, “I would further like to invite other Disillusioned Democrats to switch Parties and join us on this noble quest to Save our Country and, Make America Great Again – GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. THANK YOU HILLARY!”
Florida has become one of the Republican party’s biggest success stories
Over the last decade alone, Florida has turned from a swing state to one of the most Republican-dominated states in the union.
Many political experts have attributed Florida’s swing to the right to the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis as well as Donald Trump.
Although Donald Trump cannot run again in 2028, many believe that Florida will remain red for the foreseeable future.
