Florida Republicans picked one fight with Disney and Democrats that put them on notice

Florida Republicans have made major strides since Ron DeSantis became governor.

They are getting ready to go for the jugular against the Left.

And Florida Republicans picked one fight with Disney and Democrats that put them on notice.

Florida Young Republicans look to flip Orlando red

There is a newfound energy in the Republican Party of Florida.

Florida Republicans have opened a nearly one million person advantage over Democrats in voters registered by party.

Democrats had the advantage in registration from the end of the Civil War until 2021.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis won his re-election in the race in the 2022 Midterm Elections by nearly 20 points.

He won 62 of the state’s 67 counties.

DeSantis lost Orange County, home of Orlando, by about seven points.

Florida Young Republicans are on a mission to turn the county red.

The Young Republicans National Federation opened its office for Florida in Orlando.

“Putting that investment into Orlando and doing twice the work in less time is going to help significantly,” Florida Young Republicans president Brandon Ludwig told Fox News Digital.

Democrats currently have the advantage with registered voters in the county.

“We are in a blue county, so if you look at the voter registration, about 39% are Democrat and 27% are Republican,” Orange County GOP chair Erin Huntley explained.

But Republicans added 10,000 registered voters in the county compared to 2,000 for Democrats.

“Things are shifting and when you see shifts in voter registration, it means there’s energy, appetite, and momentum in our direction,” Huntley said.

Disney workers are a target

Ludwig said that Young Republicans are looking to make gains with workers in the hospitality industry at the Disney and Universal theme parks in the region.

“It’s going to allow us to reach out to those individuals and really start making inroads in Orlando’s many different diversities,” Ludwig said.

The Florida Young Republicans are hoping to grow the next generation of the party.

Social events, networking opportunities, and outreach are how the group is recruiting new members.

“It’s a fantastic networking operation. We have a variety of individuals from different backgrounds. I personally don’t work in politics,” Ludwig said. “We have members of Congress who are Florida Young Republican members. We have former television stars who are members of our organization as well.”

The number of Young Republican chapters and members has been growing across the state.

“Tampa is growing,” Ludwig explained. “In the Tampa area, we have seen a lot of people who have moved from California and some of those northern states who have joined. It’s really, really interesting because many of these people had not previously been in politics, but they left their states because of politics.”

The dismal economy has been a top issue for the young Republicans.

“Young people, who are my age, are stuck renting, and they don’t know if they’re going to be able to buy a house,” Ludwig said. “There are other issues, too, but that’s the one that we consistently hear the most.”

Florida Republicans are not taking their foot off the gas as they look to cement the state as red.
