Gavin Newsom just promised to enact one law that had Ron DeSantis shaking his head in disbelief

California Governor Gavin Newsom spent the past three years attacking every move Ron DeSantis made.

But now Newsom is taking a page from DeSantis’ playbook.

And Gavin Newsom just promised to enact one law that had Ron DeSantis shaking his head in disbelief.

Ron DeSantis has faced a steady stream of attacks ever since he refused to enforce Joe Biden’s pandemic lockdowns and mandates.

Every decision he makes is attacked and smeared by Democrats and the left-wing media.

Of course, no one has attacked DeSantis as much as Governor Gavin Newsom.

But Newsom is now copying an educational policy DeSantis put in place last year that MSNBC called “dangerous” and “authoritarian.”

As part of his Teacher’s Bill of Rights, DeSantis said educators should have the right to require students to leave their phones in a cubby during class hours.

“Why are these students on their phones during class all the time?” DeSantis said at the time. “They should not be always on their phones, being distracted from the lessons.”

And after spending the past three years attacking DeSantis, Gavin Newsom just promised to restrict the use of smartphones during the school day.

“As the surgeon general affirmed, social media is harming the mental health of our youth,” Newsom told POLITICO. “Building on legislation I signed in 2019, I look forward to working with the Legislature to restrict the use of smartphones during the school day,” he continued. “When children and teens are in school, they should be focused on their studies — not their screens.”

Newsom is proposing the same policy that DeSantis passed last year despite attacks from Democrats and the media.

DeSantis’ Press Secretary, Bryan Griffin, took a swipe at Newsom on social media for copying the Sunshine State.

“Keep copying Florida, California!” he wrote. “There may still be a chance to come back from the brink.”

Communications Director Christina Pushaw, who moved to Florida from California, called out a member of the media who attacked DeSantis and asked if they would be attacking Newsom as well.

“Hmm, I wonder if @ruthbenghiat will call Governor Newsom an authoritarian dictator for following Governor DeSantis’ example on this common-sense policy,” she wrote.

California is a raging dumpster fire under Newsom’s direction.

But as Griffin pointed out, he could save California by copying all of DeSantis’ policies.
