Kevin O’Leary reveals that Tim Walz has been great for other states
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was thrust into the national spotlight after he was tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris to be her running mate.
He was best known for sitting on his hands while Minneapolis was looted and torched during the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020 after George Floyd died.
O’Leary Ventures chairman Kevin O’Leary, one of the stars of ABC’s Shark Tank, revealed that Walz has been a great Governor for everyone but Minnesota during an appearance on Fox News.
The Shark Tank star said that Minnesota’s taxes are causing residents to flee the state.
“The state tax there is 9.8 percent then Walz put on a super tax for people that are investing more than $1 million,” O’Leary explained. “So, all of his retirees have moved out of the state, billions of dollars.”
Walz signed a bill into law last year to soak the rich by taxing net investment income over one million dollars by one percent on top of every other tax.
Minnesotans are voting with their feet to leave the state.
The state has one of the highest tax burdens in the country under Walz.
Florida needs to give Tim Walz an award
O’Leary said that he looked to Walz’s dismal economic track record when he looked for clues about Kamala’s policies.
“The lack of policy coming out of the Harris camp — and I understand why, and I think she has her own strategy and she’s not going to talk to reporters, I get it — so many teams, including mine, and I’ve never done this before, went to go look at Minnesota because that VP candidate has more of a track record on economic policy,” O’Leary said.
He said that he was “shocked” by the number of people leaving Minnesota.
“I’m trying to be bipartisan here, but it’s one of the eight states where capital is fleeing, and people are fleeing and jobs are fleeing. I was shocked,” O’Leary stated.
Sending residents fleeing to other states should earn Walz an award according to O’Leary.
“South Dakota should give an award to him. They’re growing jobs in South Dakota four times faster than Walz is growing them in Minnesota, and so is North Dakota,” O’Leary explained. “So, he’s a great governor for Texas, he’s a great governor for Florida, he’s a great governor for South Dakota and North Dakota, but he’s not a good governor for Minnesota because he has taken the job creation there and wiped it out.”
