Lara Trump played a key role in getting Donald Trump elected as Republican National Committee co-chair.
She became one of the rising stars in the Trump family with her performance.
And Lara Trump quit her job and left everyone asking this important question.
Lara Trump leaves the RNC during speculation about a Senate bid
President-elect Donald Trump picked his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, and former North Carolina Republican Party chair Michael Whatley to co-chair the Republican National Committee (RNC) in March.
They replaced former chair, Ronna Romney McDaniel, and the RNC played a key role in Trump’s decisive victory and Republicans’ success in holding the House and flipping the Senate.
Lara Trump announced that she was stepping down from the RNC after she accomplished her goals there.
“At the RNC, we had three distinct goals: 1) surpass all fundraising records, 2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity and, 3) turn out millions of Americans and low propensity voters during early voting,” Lara said. “We accomplished all three. The job I came to do is now complete, and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting.”
The daughter-in-law of the President-elect has been the subject of rumors that she could be appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) to serve as Trump’s nominee to be Secretary of State.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will appoint someone to fill the vacancy until a special election for Rubio’s Senate seat during the 2026 Midterm Elections.
DeSantis announced in November that he would appoint someone to the Senate who supported the Trump agenda.
“Florida deserves a Senator who will help President Trump deliver on his election mandate, be strong on immigration and border security, take on the entrenched bureaucracy and administrative state, reverse the nation’s fiscal decline, be animated by conservative principles, and has a proven record of results,” DeSantis said at the time.
He aimed to pick Rubio’s replacement sometime in early January.
Lara Trump interested in a potential move to the Senate
Lara Trump admitted that she is opening to be appointed to the Senate by DeSantis.
“It is something I would seriously consider,” Lara told The Associated Press. “If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”
Prominent voices have lobbied for her to get appointed to the soon-to-be vacant Senate seat.
Maye Musk, the mother of Elon Musk, endorsed Lara for the Senate seat on social media.
“The next senator for Florida should be [Lara Trump]. The Senate is an old man’s club. We desperately need a smart, young, outspoken woman who will reveal their secrets,” Musk wrote on X.
Elon Musk replied, “Lara Trump is genuinely great.”
Lara Trump is a rising political star after a successful stint leading the RNC.
She could be the next member of the Trump family to hold elected office.
