Matt Gaetz was one of the fiercest warriors for the America First agenda in Congress.
He has left the House but he is not out of politics.
And Matt Gaetz dropped one hint about his future that left the establishment scared stiff.
Matt Gaetz addresses a future run for office
Former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was set to receive a promotion before the Washington, D.C. Swamp launched a vicious character assassination.
President-elect Donald Trump nominated him to be his Attorney General so he could clean house at the Justice Department.
The media, Democrats, and the Republican establishment began a vicious smear campaign to derail his nomination.
President Joe Biden’s Justice Department illegally leaked information to the media about an investigation into Gaetz that never resulted in charges.
Gaetz’s family was the victim of an extortion scheme and the people extorting were responsible for pushing the unfounded allegations about him into the media that were used in the bogus House ethics report.
He resigned from Congress after he was nominated and withdrew his nomination rather than be a distraction to the incoming Trump administration.
Gaetz landed at One America News Network where he hosts a show every weeknight.
A political comeback could be in the cards for 2026.
He told the Tampa Bay Times that he was “starting to think about” running for governor of Florida in the 2026 Midterm Elections.
Gaetz touted his ability to solve the homeowner insurance crisis that is plaguing the state with surging premiums from hurricanes, fraud, and constant litigation.
“I understand how to fix the insurance problem, and it’s not to hand the keys to the state over to the insurance industry,” Gaetz said. “If I run, I would be the most pro-consumer candidate on the Republican side.”
He said he would have to discuss the decision with his wife and pray about it.
Gaetz brushed off the bogus ethics allegations against him.
“Those lies have been told about me for years,” Gaetz said. “They’ve never affected my ability to win elections.”
The race to replace Ron DeSantis could get wild
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is term-limited and cannot run for re-election in 2026.
There is going to be a lengthy list of Republicans trying to replace him.
Florida has become a solid red state, and the winner of the Republican Primary would begin as the overwhelming favorite for the election.
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL), Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez, Miami Mayor Frances Suarez, and others could throw their hats in the ring.
Donalds gave his strongest signal yet that he is running for Governor in 2026 when he hired Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio who was the Trump campaign’s pollster in the 2024 Election.
The biggest wildcard in the Republican Primary would be the Trump endorsement.
Gaetz told the New York Times that he has spoken with Trump about a potential run for Governor.
Whoever got Trump’s endorsement would instantly be the favorite in a crowded Republican field.
Donald Trump’s decision will loom large in the race to replace Ron DeSantis.
