Internal Homeland Security watchdog being targeted
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is one of the scandal-plagued agencies under the Biden-Harris administration.
DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari serves as the internal watchdog who investigates allegations of wrongdoing by the agency.
He issued a report that exposed the lack of vetting for Afghan refugees who arrived in 2021 and identified them as national security risks.
Cuffari exposed multiple scandals involving the border crisis including an illegal alien on the terror watch list being allowed to fly and Border Patrol agents being pulled off their normal duties to care for illegal aliens.
And he is conducting his own investigation into the Secret Service after the assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump.
Now, Cuffari is investigating the botched response by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to Hurricane Helene.
His investigations have become a problem for the Biden-Harris administration by exposing the misconduct at DHS.
That is why there is a campaign underway to have him fired.
The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity (CIGIE) dropped a 1,000-page report accusing Cuffari of ethics violations and lying to the Senate during his confirmation process.
His real sin was that he was appointed by former President Donald Trump and is doing his job as a watchdog at DHS.
The report was designed to get a pressure campaign going to have him fired.
Matt Gaetz defends DHS Inspector General from witch hunt
Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wrote a letter to Cuffari in support of his work as the DHS Inspector General.
“You have independent oversight over the nerve center of the D.C. swamp, and the knives are out for you,” Gaetz wrote. “I am very concerned that Vice President Harris and others who want to cover up the open border and the assassination attempts on former President Trump will be calling for your firing and privately leaning on President Biden to remove you.”
Representatives Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), two of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) political allies, used the CIGIE report about Cuffari to demand that President Joe Biden fire him.
They accused Cuffari of abusing his power and wasting taxpayer money.
Gaetz said it looked like Vice President Kamala and Biden were looking to bury evidence of their wrongdoing by potentially firing Cuffari.
“It would look like a cover-up on the part of President Biden and Vice President Harris,” Gaetz stated. “Given two assassination attempts on former President Trump, your continued oversight responsibilities related to the Southern border crisis, and now the numerous whistleblowers coming forward about FEMA mismanagement of the Hurricane Helene response, removing you might be politically convenient for those in power, but Americans would see it as a dirty trick.”
“It is telling, and rather gross, that this report comes out right before the November election,” Gaetz said in the letter. “After all, your office has oversight over parts of the Department of Homeland Security that might be asleep at the wheel as our election technology is penetrated by foreign adversaries.”
The one honest man in DHS could be on his way out because of his working exposing government wrongdoing.
