Donald Trump is planning his next administration from his home at Mar-a-Lago.
His neighbors are not happy about some of the events there.
And Palm Beach wants to force Donald Trump to make this terrible change to Mar-a-Lago.
Palm Beach considers forcing Mar-a-Lago to hold fewer events
President-elect Donald Trump has been holding court at his Mar-a-Lago Club estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
His incoming administration has been planning the Presidential transition from the Club.
Mar-a-Lago has also had an active social schedule with constant events including many honoring the President-elect and his allies.
The nonprofit America’s Future led by retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn held an event at Mar-a-Lago featuring former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, actor Mel Gibson, comedian Russell Brand, and Kid Rock.
Kid Rock received the Champion for Freedom award and Trump briefly spoke to guests at the event.
Events like this are commonplace and it is driving some of the residents of Palm Beach up the wall.
The Palm Beach Town Council complained that the road in front of Mar-a-Lago was closed after the assassination attempt against Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.
Now, the Town Council is considering limiting the number of events at Mar-a-Lago to reduce the amount of traffic in the town.
The Palm Beach Planning and Zoning Commission was not happy about the frequent events at Trump’s club.
“The optics of a party a night, a party a day, everyone having a great time in Mar-a-Lago, and we can’t get across the street,” Alternate Commissioner Victoria Donaldson said. I know this has been brought up a million times, but now you’re seeing it.”
“I think that this is … really getting residents mad,” Donaldson added. “The more we keep seeing the holiday parties … (while) we are all stuck, it’s just the wrong optics.”
Mar-a-Lago’s parties and events anger Palm Beach residents
The closure of Ocean Boulevard that runs in front of Mar-a-Lago and the traffic in town related to Trump has made getting around Palm Beach a pain in the neck for residents.
Donaldson claimed that Palm Beach residents were stewing about people having an enjoyable time at Mar-a-Lago.
“I’ve had so many number of people say, ‘How can there be all these huge parties all the time at Mar-a-Lago, and we can’t drive by?’ ” Donaldson said. “This is making no sense.”
Palm Beach residents either chose to ignore or were ignorant of the security situation for Trump after two assassination attempts.
Mayor Danielle Moore reminded the commission that most guests at Mar-a-Lago are screened off-site and bused in.
“Yes there are events at Mar-a-Lago, at the moment, and the majority of those people are being bussed in from a location off the island,” Moore stated.
The Trump family said they were trying to cause as few disruptions as possible.
“President Trump, the Trump family, and the Mar-a-Lago Club do not want to inconvenience anyone, especially their neighbors and greater community in Palm Beach,” a Trump family spokesman said. “The Trumps have been members of the community for 30 years. It is their home, and they share the sentiments of fellow town residents.”
Donald Trump’s return to Washington, D.C. in January might bring some more normalcy to Palm Beach.
