Police officers were sickened by what this Florida man did with two cats in a box

Most people are kind and will go out of their way to help someone in need.

But some folks are just downright evil.

And police officers were sickened by what this Florida man did with two cats in a box.

Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and Patrick Sherrill are three of America’s most notorious murderers.

Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 people, Ted Bundy murdered more than 30 people, and Patrick Sherill took the lives of 14 people.

But these men have more in common than just being cold-blooded killers.

All three have a history of abusing animals before they started killing humans.

This is true for most serial killers and murderers.

Research shows that animal abuse is highly correlated with human-to-human violence.

“Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty against animals don’t stop there; many of them move on to their fellow humans,” the Wilbarger Humane Society reported. “The FBI has found that a history of cruelty to animals is one of the traits that regularly appear in its computer records of serial rapists and murderers, and the standard diagnostic and treatment manual for psychiatric and emotional disorders lists cruelty to animals as a diagnostic criterion for conduct disorders.”

Police in Lee County, Florida, recently responded to a call from a resident who reported a disturbing incident at their mailbox.

The resident told the law enforcement officers that they found a box with two severed cat heads on top of their mailbox.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office sent the Animal Cruelty Task Force to investigate the scene and canvass the area.

“Heinous violent acts, especially toward innocent animals, is beyond unacceptable and any offender will face severe consequences to the fullest extent of the law,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said.

The detectives used license plate readers and the Real Time Intelligence Center to place 36-year-old Robert James Luther III near the scene of the crime.

Police officers found Luther III fishing near a closed business and questioned him about the severed cat heads, but he invoked his rights and remained silent.

After search warrants were executed, police found evidence linking Luther III to the crime, “including disturbing cell phone videos in which he mentioned and depicted the deceased cats.”

Luther III was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty and two counts of aggravated stalking.

Sheriff Marceno expressed his relief that Luther III was brought in before he had an opportunity to harm anything or anyone else.

“The combined efforts of multiple units ensured this sick individual got locked behind bars before he could hurt anyone else,” Marcelo said.

Based on studies, Luther III seemed to be on his way to becoming a mass murderer.
