Most Americans treat their pets like a member of the family.
This is especially true when it comes to dog owners.
But police were shocked by the awful reason this Florida woman pulled a gun on her Uber driver.
In 2010, the ridesharing service called Uber was first launched in San Francisco.
But it was nine years before Uber went public in 2019 and completely revolutionized the taxi and fast food industries.
Thanks to artificial intelligence software, Uber quickly became the most popular ridesharing and delivery platform in the world.
Today Uber has 93 million riders and 3.5 million drivers in the 71 countries and 10,000 cities where it operates around the world.
Uber is wildly popular in America.
It is estimated that 25% of Americans use Uber at least once per month.
But Uber offers more than just a convenient taxi service to its customers.
It also has UberEats, which is the leading catering app in the world.
UberEats allows folks to order food from anywhere in their area and an Uber driver will pick it up and deliver it to their homes.
Not only that, but many Americans earn extra income each month as an Uber driver.
The average Uber driver only makes $364 a month.
Uber drivers use their own vehicles for hauling people around and delivering food.
It is up to the operator whether they will allow pets in their vehicle.
And one Uber driver recently found himself staring down the barrel of a loaded gun for not allowing pets in his vehicle.
On Sunday, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from an Uber driver who was robbed at gunpoint by an angry dog owner.
“The victim was in the process of dropping off two passengers when they asked if they could purchase a second ride to another location, and asked if their friend (the suspect) could ride with them,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a release.
According to the report, 27-year-old Jasia Owens then “attempted to enter the car with a dog, and the Uber driver told her he did not want her pet in his car.”
“He asked the entire group to exit his vehicle,” the report added.
But that is when the dog owner erupted into a fury and refused to exit the vehicle.
The woman eventually exited the car, but according to the report, that is when she “pulled a brown handgun from her bag, threatened the victim and snatched his cell phone.”
“The victim attempted to flee the scene in his car, but (she) prevented him from leaving,” the police report read. “Once he was able to leave, he drove down the street and flagged down a bystander, using their phone to call 9-1-1 for help.”
The police found a 9mm Sig Sauer under a vehicle in the driveway of a nearby home.
“A witness at the home said Owens had come into their driveway and asked for a ride to her sister’s house,” Fox reported. “They added that Owens seemed to be in a rush to get out of the area.”
Owens was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
