Ron DeSantis blasted Joe Biden for committing this awful America last betrayal

Aug 13, 2024

The country has to suffer through Joe Biden’s Presidency until next January.

He has got a nasty surprise for Florida on his way out the door.

And Ron DeSantis blasted Joe Biden for committing this awful America last betrayal.

Ron DeSantis slams Biden for putting Ukraine ahead of Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is trying to help his state pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Hurricane Debby.

The Category 1 Hurricane slammed into the northern part of Florida’s Gulf Coast with torrential rain and high winds before it was downgraded to a tropical storm.

Massive flooding occurred after areas of the state got record-setting amounts of rain.

In Sarasota, on the Gulf Coast, 500 people had to be evacuated from their homes from flooding.

“Essentially we’ve had twice the amount of the rain that was predicted for us to have,” Sarasota County Fire Chief David Rathbun said.

President Joe Biden finally approved an emergency declaration for federal disaster relief for Florida.

But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis accused the lame duck President of putting America at the back of the line for federal assistance.

“They’re playing politics,” DeSantis said at a press conference in the coastal community of Steinhatchee, where Debby made landfall.

“Some people don’t want to do money to help victims of natural disaster in our own country because they want more money for things like Ukraine and things halfway around the world,” DeSantis explained. “And I think they need to stop playing politics with it and just get it done.”

DeSantis said the Biden administration was claiming that it ran out of disaster relief money.

Biden administration claims disaster fund is empty

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in June that the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) disaster relief fund would run out in August unless Congress authorized more spending.

He blamed climate change, without evidence for a rise in disasters that the agency must deal with.

“As the impacts of climate change have been more and more evident, we have seen and experienced increasing frequency and gravity of extreme weather events,” Mayorkas said.

Mayorkas warned the money was running out.

“We expect the disaster relief fund, which is the critical fund that we use to resource impacted communities, we expect it will run out by mid-August. And we need Congress to fund the disaster relief fund,” Mayorkas claimed.

The Biden-Harris administration can find more than $100 billion for Ukraine and over $1 trillion on Green New Deal policies but they claim there is not enough money for Americans recovering from a disaster.

DeSantis said that Florida is “way more proactive than any other state” to “fill gaps when the federal government drags its feet on stuff … because the federal bureaucracy can take a long time to be able to do so.”

He noted that the region of the Gulf Coast where Debby made landfall was hit last year by Hurricane Idalia.

“We’re doing more than any other state ever has,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis added that there are still “needs” from the damage Idalia caused in 2023.

Florida must step up while the Biden-Harris administration is asleep at the switch again.
