Kamala Harris attacks Ron DeSantis over hurricane preparation 

The Biden-Harris administration’s response to Hurricane Helene has become its own disaster after the federal government was missing in action in the aftermath. 

Vice President Kamala Harris was looking to deflect the blame from the administration’s failures on Helene and start a political fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. 

Category 5 Hurricane Milton was bearing down on Florida at the time and DeSantis did not answer a phone call from Kamala because it appeared to be political according to a report. 

A reporter asked her about it, and she attacked DeSantis. 

“NBC is reporting Governor DeSantis is ignoring your calls on hurricane resources and help,” a reporter said. “How does that hurt the situation here?”

“You know, moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says they’re gonna put politics aside and put the people first,” Kamala ranted. 

“And playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations, these are the height of the emergency situations,” Kamala continued. “It’s just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish, and it is about political gamesmanship instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first.”

Ron DeSantis drops the hammer on Kamala 

DeSantis was busy preparing for what looked like one of the worst hurricanes in the state’s history. 

He said that he did not realize that Kamala had called him, and she had never been involved with the administration’s response to a hurricane before. 

DeSantis destroyed her for trying to politicize the storm during an appearance on Fox & Friends. 

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt noted that Kamala called him “selfish.”

“Well, I think she should look in the mirror,” DeSantis began. “We’ve been on an emergency footing for two weeks straight, round the clock, 24-7.”

He outlined the work he did to prepare for Hurricane Helene and then the subsequent recovery. 

“So that’s been my sole focus,” DeSantis said. “My focus has not been on dealing with Kamala Harris. I did I saw the news report. I didn’t know she tried to contact me. But I’d also say it’s not about you, Kamala. It’s about the people of Florida. My focus is exactly where it should be.”

He said that no one had tried to politicize a hurricane before her. 

“And I can tell you this,” DeSantis explained. “I’ve worked on these hurricanes under both President Trump and President Biden. Neither of them ever tried to politicize it. She has never called on any of the storms we’ve had since she’s been Vice President until apparently now.”

“Why, all of a sudden, is she trying to parachute in and inject herself when she’s never shown any interest in the past?” DeSantis asked. “We know it’s because of politics. We know it’s because of her campaign. I have zero time to entertain these political games.”

DeSantis noted that Kamala is not in the chain of command for disaster response. 

“We’re going to continue to do what we need to do to prepare and respond to what may be one of the most damaging storms in the history of the United States,” DeSantis said. “So, she says focusing on protecting your people is selfish. I think she ought to look in the mirror.”

President Joe Biden praised DeSantis for doing a “great job” in preparing for Hurricane Milton.
