Ron DeSantis’ former campaign manager took this shocking job to help Donald Trump

Aug 21, 2024

The homestretch for the 2024 Election is going to kick off after Labor Day.

Donald Trump has some powerful allies in his corner this campaign.

And Ron DeSantis’ former campaign manager took this shocking job to help Donald Trump.

DeSantis campaign manager joins Elon Musk-backed PAC

Former President Donald Trump has made inroads in Silicon Valley during this election.

He has picked up the support of Tesla founder Elon Musk who endorsed him after he was shot during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk would be pouring $45 million into a super PAC every month until the election.

He disputed that number on X.

But he is backing a super PAC that is working on a sophisticated get-out-the-vote operation for Trump.

America PAC launched in May this year with the goal of turning out 800,000 lower propensity voters for the former President in swing states.

“The key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom,” Musk wrote on X in July. “Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.”

Musk, Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, SpaceX board member Kenneth Howery, Sequoia Capital partner Shaun Maguire, and other Big Tech players donated to get it off the ground.

Running America PAC are two veterans of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Presidential campaign.

DeSantis campaign manager Generra Peck and Phil Cox who served as a senior advisor to Never Back Down, the main super PAC that backed DeSantis’ Presidential campaign, are running the day-to-day operations of American PAC.

Peck developed a relationship with Musk during the DeSantis campaign and set up the launch of the Florida Governor’s campaign on a Twitter Spaces event.

Turning on voters for Donald Trump via the ground game

Due to changes in rules by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), campaigns and super PACs can coordinate get-out-the-vote efforts.

Never Back Down was unique at the time for a GOP Presidential campaign because the DeSantis campaign outsourced its voter canvassing effort to it.

Now, the Trump campaign is using outside groups like America PAC and Turning Point Action to oversee its ground game that was traditionally handled by the Republican National Committee.

America PAC is doing door-to-door canvassing and digital contacts of voters in swing states.

In an election that is expected to come down to the wire a strong ground game can turn out the last one to two percent of voters that could be decisive.

Musk’s involvement with the PAC has already put it on the radar of Democrats.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s (D) office was allegedly concerned that the PAC could be misleading voters with its voter registration efforts.

“America PAC is utilizing the data it collects to register voters and encourage them to vote,” attorneys for America PAC wrote Benson’s office. “Admittedly, not all our plans or strategies are public at this time, but any investigation into our efforts will prove premature and imprudent.”

PACs will be hard at work trying to turn out as many voters as possible for Donald Trump in what is expected to be a tight contest.
