Ron DeSantis just revealed one disturbing truth about the teachers union

Big Labor spends billions of dollars to elect Democrats and push their left-wing agenda on the country.

But most Americans do not know that the National Education Association (NEA) is the largest labor union in the United States.

And Ron DeSantis just revealed one disturbing truth about the teachers union.

The teachers union has been the most powerful political arm of the Democrat Party for decades.

The leaders at the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) always claim that they care about and are fighting for the teachers and the students.

But the reality is that the teachers union is a left-wing special interest group that puts politics over the needs of the teachers and students they claim to care about.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has led the charge at the state level to break the teachers unions’ stranglehold over education.

DeSantis ended the automatic deduction of union dues from teacher paychecks that are sent by the state to the union and signed Universal School Choice legislation into law.

On Monday, DeSantis announced a $1.25 billion pay increase for teachers in Florida, the highest allotment in state history and $200 million more than the current fiscal year.

“Florida’s education system is No. 1 in the nation, and we want to make sure good educators are attracted to Florida with attractive compensation,” DeSantis said in a statement. “I am proud to have invested more than $4 billion for teacher pay increases since the beginning of my time in office, and I will continue to push for increased funding for Florida’s teachers.”

When speaking with reporters after the announcement, DeSantis took aim at the teachers unions and revealed the true nature of their agenda.

“School unions have become ultra partisan,” he said. “They’ve been trying to impose left-wing ideology.”

In response to criticism from the teachers union about the billion dollar pay raise, DeSantis asked “are you representing teachers to get better pay and benefits, or are you pushing a political agenda?”

“They put their political agenda ahead of not only the students, which of course they do, but even the teachers that they purport to serve,” he added.

DeSantis Communications Director Bryan Griffin slammed the teachers unions in a post on X where he shared a video of the Governor speaking to reporters about them.

“Activist school unions in Florida were holding up teacher pay increases to use as leverage for self-serving concessions,” Griffin wrote. “They pushed to keep schools closed after we learned the truth about COVID (@rweingarten).”

Griffin is referring to the role American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten played in the COVID school shutdowns.

Weingarten said opening schools during the pandemic would be “reckless, callous, and cruel.”

Griffin noted how “they push indoctrination in the classrooms” and “some of these union leaders make hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

He then listed how Ron DeSantis “has beaten these radical unions.”

“No more automatic payroll deductions to unions,” he wrote. “Recertification required (unions don’t get to monopolize if they aren’t wanted),” “Teacher pay increases MUST go to teacher pay, and no union pet projects,” “Record teacher pay increases,” “Schools open, indoctrination prohibited.”
