Every second 350 slices of pizza are eaten in the United States.
Americans love pizza so much that October has been declared National Pizza Month.
And this Dominos delivery driver could not believe how one Florida woman reacted to cold and uncut pizza.
Surveys show virtually all Americans like eating pizza.
Polls have found that as many as 98% of Americans eat pizza and 54% say they love it.
But pizza was not always popular in the United States.
Its popularity came about after thousands of Italian immigrants landed in America between 1880 and 1920.
Today, Americans eat more pizza than any other country in the world, with 93% of Americans ordering it at least once per month.
Americans consume about 23 pounds of pizza per person each year.
There are very few ways to mess up a pizza.
But one way to ruin a pizza is to let it get cold.
And a Domino’s driver in Florida recently found out how some folks respond to cold pizza.
Ricqui Holly, a 22-year-old Florida resident, ordered a pizza after midnight on Friday.
But when Holly received her delivery and sat down to eat, she discovered not only was her pizza cold, but it was also uncut.
That is why she jumped in her car and drove to the Domino’s store with the box of pizza in hand.
“The incident occurred after Holly, angered that her pizza was delivered ‘cold and uncut,’ decided to take matters into her own hands,” Tampa Bay radio station 97X reported. “Reportedly dissatisfied with the service, she drove from her residence to the Domino’s location, located just 1.4 miles away, to confront the staff.”
Once she arrived at the store, a verbal altercation ensued between her and the delivery driver.
According to the police report, “the defendant then flung the pizza box in the air and then tossed the store telephone, damaging the property in the process.”
The surveillance cameras caught part of her hissy fit on tape.
“Video surveillance also showed the defendant pushing the store telephone during the altercation,” the police report added.
Two other employees witnessed the incident.
“The nature of the argument remains unclear, and the police report did not mention if any specific toppings were part of the dispute or whether additional items, such as stuffed cheesy bread, were involved,” 97X reported.
Holly was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.
She spent the night in jail and then was released the next day.
At her court hearing, the judge ordered her to stay away from the Domino’s store.
All Holly wanted was a hot and freshly cut pizza delivered to her door.
But even though the store is 1.4 miles from where she lives, Domino’s still managed to deliver cold pizza that had not even been cut.
Most people would be furious in the same situation.
But driving to the store and attacking the delivery driver was not the brightest decision.
