This one Florida man could spend the rest of his life in prison for what he revealed during a job interview

Most people view interviewing for a job as a stressful and nerve-racking experience.

The pressure to give the right answers can be overwhelming.

And this one Florida man could spend the rest of his life in prison for what he revealed during a job interview.

Stephen Bodley wanted to become a police officer in Florida.

Back in 2021, Bodley submitted an application for a job with the Apopka Police Department in Orange County, Florida.

After reviewing his application, Department officials called Bodley in for an in-person interview.

As part of the interview, Bodley had to undergo what is known as a “voice stress examination.”

“Voice stress examinations are done to determine if the person is being deceitful in their answers, and while used in criminal investigations, they are also occasionally used by police departments to vet their recruits,” the Independent reported.

The interviewer asked Bodley if he would be willing to expand on some of the answers he gave on the pre-test questionnaire that gave them reason for concern.

In the pre-test questionnaire, Bodley described what sounded like sexually abusing a child years ago.

When the examiner asked him to explain what he meant, he gave the same answer and essentially admitted to sexually abusing the child.

“I can’t remember but um, but what do you call it, yes, um, I used to um, play these little sexual games, like oral with my little [redacted] and I known she, she didn’t know fully what was going on, and I used to watch porn a lot, so I had like a little addiction when I was younger,” Bodley told a detective.

“He explained that he was going to his room naked, and she was laughing, and then she put her mouth on it (referring to his penis),” the affidavit stated. “Defendant Bodley stated that it gave him an idea to ‘play this game’ and he would play the game with her ‘all the time.’”

“Me knowing what it was, she probably didn’t know what was going on, and so that’s why I put it there,” Bodley said according to the affidavit.

The shocking confession led the police department to open an investigation.

After Bodley gave them more details about the victim, the police went to her mother and explained what he claims he did to her daughter.

“She stated she ended up in the Defendant’s room and did not process it at the time because she did not know due to her age, but the Defendant started kissing her on her body,” the affidavit stated. “Then he took his penis out and stuck it in her mouth, and after that she ‘blacked out’.”

“Each time it happened, she recalled the Defendant putting his penis in her mouth,” the affidavit continued. “The victim stated the Defendant thought his actions were funny because he was laughing.”

Bodley was between the ages of 14 and 15 when the abuse occurred, but the affidavit noted that “this behavior continued throughout his teenage years into adulthood.”

Bodley, now 26 years old, was called back to the police department by the detectives.

But he was not called back for an interview.

He was arrested and charged with sexual battery of a child.

And after a jury in Orange County recently found him guilty, Bodley could be headed to prison for the rest of his life for what he admitted during his job interview.
