Tom Brady could make one shocking decision about the NFL that no one saw coming

Jan 9, 2025

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady came to a fork in the road.

He has got a big decision to make about his future.

And Tom Brady could make one shocking decision about the NFL that no one saw coming.

NFL insider says that Tom Brady could leave broadcasting

Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady inked a 10-year deal worth a reported $375 million to join Fox as a color analyst for NFL games after he retired from football in 2022.

Brady is in his first year as the top analyst for Fox calling NFL games alongside his partner Kevin Burkhardt.

The former NFL great has been criticized by many fans for having a rocky transition to broadcasting.

Brady’s work as a color analyst has left much to be desired according to his critics.

There is always the potential to learn on the job and grow into the role.

But one NFL insider thinks that Brady’s time as a broadcaster could be short-lived.

The Athletic sports media journalist Andrew Marchand claimed that Brady has “regressed” and provides “no extra insight” as a broadcaster.

His colleague at The Athletic, media reporter Richard Deitsch, predicted that the former Patriots quarterback could walk away from broadcasting after one season.

“I’ve previously said I’d put down big money that Brady will not finish his 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox, given all his various business interests away from broadcasting, including ownership,” Deitsch said. “That remains true.”

Brady’s focus could switch to an ownership role with the Raiders

The decision to leave broadcasting could be spurred by Brady’s growing role with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Brady became a minority owner of the team last year after he bought a 5% interest.

“The safer prediction would be that Brady walks away from his Fox deal after three or four years,” Deitsch stated. “But I’m going bold and saying Brady gets deeper involved with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason and decides to go all in with NFL ownership and his production company by the start of the next NFL season.”

Brady’s stake in the Raiders has made some of the NFL’s owners peeved about his ability to call games while owning part of a team.

The NFL set up a special set of rules for him covering games after getting a piece of the Raiders including not being allowed to attend practices or production meetings before the game.

He might not be the typical passive minority owner of an NFL team.

Las Vegas Review-Journal Raiders beat writer Vincent Bonsignore reported that Brady could have a major say in how the team is run going forward.

Raiders owner Mark Davis wants Brady to be involved with the decision-making and player personnel decisions for the team.

“Although Tom can’t play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train him as well,” Davis said. “So it’s a huge benefit for the organization.”

Tom Brady’s playing a significant role in running the Raiders could be more appealing to him than a career on TV.
