Viral sensation Sydney Sweeney moved to Florida for this surprising reason

Jul 1, 2024

Florida has become the hottest destination for people to relocate under Governor Ron DeSantis.

Now one of the rising stars in Hollywood headed south for her new home.

And viral sensation Sydney Sweeney moved to Florida for this surprising reason.

Rising Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney moves to the Florida Keys

Actress Sydney Sweeney, at 26, has become one of the hottest stars in Hollywood.

She rose to fame starring in two HBO series, Euphoria and The White Lotus

Last year, she starred alongside actor Glen Powell in the romantic comedy Anyone but You which became a sleeper hit.

Florida has become the place to be for celebrities in recent years with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, actor Sylvester Stallone, and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady putting down roots in the Sunshine State.

Sweeney joined the celebrity influx to Florida when she bought a $13.5 million oceanfront mansion in the Florida Keys.

The 8,000-square-foot home has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a home gym, a game room, and a boat launch.

Florida Keys has become a surprising celebrity hot spot

The Florida Keys are most famously associated with the late singer Jimmy Buffet who was a famous resident.

But the Keys have become a celebrity hot spot in recent years.

Kathie Lee Gifford, Scott Baio, Jeff Bezos, Shakira, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Gisele Bünchden, and Luke Combs are among the stars who have bought properties there.

The laid-back lifestyle and weather are the obvious draws for someone to move to the Florida Keys.

But Truman & Co. real estate broker Terri Spottswood told Fox News Digital there is another factor that attracts so many celebrities.

“I think celebrities move to the Keys for several reasons,” Spottswood said. “The Keys are and always have been a ‘live and let live’ place to be. The Keys offer a sense of privacy that is appealing to those who are in the public eye and, for the most part, they are accepted and treated like everyone else and allowed to blend in.”

The Florida Keys’ proximity to Miami is also a draw for movers and shakers.

“For years, it’s been a home to authors, painters, presidents, songwriters, musicians, and actors, mostly without fanfare and that’s the way we and they have always liked it,” Spottswood added. “The island’s environment provides inspiration and tranquility, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of major cities yet close enough to get to and from quickly.”

Lokation Real Estate agent Dawn McComish said the Keys provide “tropical anonymity” for celebrities.

“People who live here are busy working and living our lives in paradise, so it’s rare that we recognize a celebrity,” McComish said. “The tourists are so busy enjoying their vacation, they aren’t looking for celebrity sightings.”

“There is a kind of ‘tropical anonymity’ that comes with living in the Florida Keys,” she added. “There are no special places for the ‘rich and famous’ to eat, shop or play. Everywhere you go is ‘Keys Casual’ — t-shirt, shorts, flip-flops — even at the most expensive restaurant.”

Sydney Sweeney joins the growing ranks of Americans who are finding a better life in Florida.
